But first, there was Faith. The one who made me a mommy. The one who I got to grow up with. The one who's seen me at my worst and at my best. She my best friend and the absolute strongest person I know... And I'm so lucky that I get to be her mom.

The first time, it was a true miracle. The second time, I kinda felt like God was sitting back laughing while that pregnancy test lit up like a Christmas tree. Let me lay it out for you: We were living in a hotel due to a house fire and we had two little girls. Josh was working 3rd shift, so I was spending most of my days in the pool with the kids so he could get some sleep. One day, it occurred to me that I hadn't bought feminine products in a hot minute...then I started calculating... uh oh! So I took a test, fully believing we could not get pregnant again. Yall...that test turned positive faster than I had ever seen anything turn positive in my life. "Ther's NO way. There's NO way!' I kept repeating it over and over, as though it was going to magically change the situation. But, 9 months passed without incident and in December of 2015, we welcomed another beautiful, healthy tiny baby girl to our family. And I don't know how to explain it, but she made everything feel complete.

Now, here we are, 10 years later, and this little lady is getting ready to start 5th grade. It just doesn't seem possible! Here's my littlest baby girl, Miss Hope Noelle...

It seemed like every time I turned around someone would ask, "So, when are you going to make Faith a big sister?" And everytime I answered that question, my heart broke a little more because I knew that having biological children was just not in our future. We had been trying for over three years when I finally went to the doctor and underwent exploratory surgery to see if there was a reason that we weren't able to conceive. We found out there was not one. There were three separate reasons, each, on their own, that would make it improbable to conceive on our own; but together--it would be impossible. And we accepted that. We were already familiar with the foster care and adoption system so, we accepted that we would grow our family that way. Then, it happened. I just didn't feel right. So I took a test. And there was a little blue cross getting darker and darker by the second. "Oh my GOD! Oh my GOD!" It was all I could say. Though I was VERY sick the entire 9 months, baby girl was thriving and growing and healthy. Labor and Delivery was rough, but everything happened by the books. I gave birth on a Wednesday and we were sent home on a Friday with an appointment to follow up with P*P on Monday. But my mother's intuition was screaming. I kept telling people, "something's not right. I think she's blind. She's not doing the things she should be doing." But I figured I'd discuss my concerns with her doctor on Monday. Well, we didn't make it to Monday. That Saturday, our second night at home, we laid down to go to sleep-- Myah Grace was fast asleep in her bassinette. Just as we were drifting off to slept, our little dog, who slept with us every night, emerged from under the covers and started whining and barking and spinning in circles at the foot of the bassinette. So, I got up and flipped on the lights and my newborn baby girl was blue. We rushed her to the hospital, and we knew something was very, very wrong when they had that baby admitted to the hospital into a room in less than 10 minutes. For days, we didn't know what was wrong, I begged God to let me keep this baby. I promised him that I would raise her in a way that would bring glory to his name, if only he would allow me to keep this precious child. Then, the scans came back. Strokes. My perfect baby girl had 2 strokes and 2 areas of bleeding on her brain, consistent with traumatic birth. The medical community couldn't tell us what her life would look like. They didn't know what her deficits or disabilities might be, but they said she would be okay, as in, we would get to take her home with us. Only time would tell the rest of the story.

Well, some time has passed. Here we are...her 8th grade year already. And she is smart and funny and caring and beautiful and I just can't help but cry out to God..."THANK YOU FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL BLESSING! Thank you for letting us keep her here."

My baby girl, y'all...

This beautiful, amazing family won a session that was donated last year the Taylor Rudd Saving Grace Foundation--and we finally had the opportunity to work together last week. I had a great time hanging out with this crew and capturing some amazing memories for them!

This was a fun, unique engagement session! The bride-to-be has a passion for all things vintage. So, we paired their vintage outfits with poses that are true to the time period along with a more faded, vintage editing style! Definitely a fun breakaway from my typical session & style!

Stop it, right now! Despite battling the high winds, mid-day sun & only having about 20 minutes to capture this session due to mom-to-be being completely OVER IT-- I think this session turned out amazing. It perfectly captures all of the love for this precious baby girl! And it's a good thing we did, too because Baby X arrived less than 24 hours after this session 😆🥰😍
