BNSF’s L-CHI104 storms past the grain bin past the little unincorperated village of Ophiem, IL, on its way to Barstow as a final destination. Just moments before, a huge downpour followed, as storms were rolling in from the west.

Allegiant flight 744 from Phoenix-Mesa gracefully glides towards runway 31 at General Wayne A Downing International Airport in Peoria, Illinois.

In the background is impressive passenger terminal, built in the early 2010s which features about 10 gates with an international terminal as well - quite uncommon for an airport this size. I’d be willing to bet a weekly flight down to Cancun or Punta Cana would sell quite well this winter!

While others are going to bed in preparation for the upcoming work week, this hardworking crew preparing Canadian National Local L554 is doing quite the opposite. Once the crew prepares their pre-trip planning, they will lead their train down to Springfield to switch various industries all night, likely until dawn. After sitting for two days at this location over Christmas Day, L554 and it’s crew will have plenty of work cut out for them

With some luck, I was able to photograph one of the Air Force’s Boeing C40 “Clippers” doing some touch and goes at the Peoria International Airport. This particular aircraft is based at Scott AFB near Saint Louis. Typically, new pilots fly up from Saint Louis to perform various training exercises. These pilots are presumably highly valued by the government, as flying a plane this size around the state and back is not a cheap affair.

On a side note - Happy thanksgiving to all!
