We need to talk about something very important, and it's how I don't alter your body in the photos.
Almost all women are nervous to book their sessions. In fact, I can probably count on one hand the number of women that were 100% confident with themselves walking into the studio.
Most women are nervous and concerned if they're actually going to love their images, because they don't feel beautiful on a day to ay basis, and they want to feel desirable.
When I tell you that this is the only type of photography that I do, I mean it. I'm not a wedding photographer or a family photographer.
Everything that we do in the studio to make you say "Shut up, that's not me!" is done with:
well fitting outfits
expert posing
proper lighting
You can see in this image this is a babe that came in for a session after losing a considerable amount of weight. YOU GO GIRL! That's freaking amazing! But, naturally, she was concerned about her excessive and saggy skin.
The middle photo is straight out of camera. Raw. No editing. No color correcting. Nothing.
The right photo is the finished edited photo. I'm a contrasty and bold editor. You can see I changed the coloring slightly, did a light airbrush and highlighting on the skin. For faces, I'll brighten eyes and shine hair.
That's it. It's all you, babe.
I know it's hard to trust the process, but readiness isn't a feeling, it's a decision.

I photograph a lot of women who come to me during or after divorce. Sometimes they’re rebuilding their confidence. Sometimes they’re rediscovering who they are outside of a relationship. Sometimes they simply need to do something that reminds them, “I am still here.”
But this session was a little different.
This was her third session with me.
And this time, she came in for a BURN THE DRESS session.
The dress represented a chapter of her life that she was ready to leave behind.
The photos are important, of course. But sometimes the experience itself becomes part of the healing.
Sometimes you need to see yourself differently.
Sometimes you need to take your power back.
And sometimes… you just need to set the damn dress on fire.
Three sessions. Three different chapters. One woman continuing to become more and more herself.

Her baby boy is due in 1-2 months, and can we all wish her the best with her motherhood journey?!
This total queen is going to be a single momma, and she is ready for it. The baby boy is already so loved, and she is trying to plan out her future so she can provide for him and give him the best life possible.
She wanted photos of herself to show off her strength, beauty, and femininity, but was nervous because she has never done something like this.
It was so far out of her comfort zone, and she doesn't even wear makeup on a regular basis or know how to curl her hair (sis, same).
But she was amazed at her images, and will have them and a beautiful album to look back on to remember this journey.
Thank you for trusting me with your gorgeous photos, babe! I loved having you in the studio and welcome you back anytime.

You know me as your bo***ir photographer, but there’s a whole human being behind the camera that you probably don’t get to see very often. So I thought it would be fun to share a few completely random things about me that have absolutely nothing to do with photography. From my former life as a special education teacher to my very questionable relationship with caffeine and my ability to listen to the same song approximately 47,000 times… here are a few pieces of the person behind the business.

I’ve always been someone who loves learning, creating, helping people, and making things feel a little more magical. I’m a mom, a former teacher, an idea machine, a caffeine enthusiast, a terrible TV watcher, and apparently someone who once spent her teenage years inside a giant Build-A-Bear costume. And yes, I’m also a Jesus follower who believes deeply that you can love Jesus AND be an open-minded, non-judgmental, LGBTQ+ ally. Read the red words.

I spend so much of my life creating an experience for other people, so I thought it was time you got to know me a little better, too. If you’re new around here, tell me something random about you in the comments! I want to know the things that wouldn’t necessarily make it onto your résumé.
