I donât do self-portraits for vanity.
I do them for growth, creativity, and connection.
Whether youâre a fellow photographer or a curious client wondering why Iâm often in front of my own camera, hereâs the truth:
Self-portraiture is one of the most powerful tools in my practice.
đŹÂ 1. It builds empathy.
Being photographed can feel vulnerable. Iâve felt the awkward pauses and âwhat do I do with my hands?â energy. I get it. Iâm here to support, not judge.
đ Photographers: Try itâyouâll connect with your clients on a whole new level.
đŻÂ 2. It makes me my own test subject.
New lens, light, edit? I try it on myself. Itâs not easy â remote syncing, interval timers, hoping the focus lands â but itâs worth it.
đ Photographers: Low-stakes practice with high returns.
đââïžÂ 3. It puts a face to the work.
Showing up builds trust. You see the human behind the lensâand hopefully feel more comfortable when itâs your turn.
đ Photographers: You are your brand. Donât hide.
đĄÂ 4. It sharpens my posing + directing.
Iâve coached myself through weird angles and âgood sideâ anxiety, so when I guide you, itâs from experience, not guesswork.
đ Photographers: Want to pose better? Pose yourself.
đ 5. It keeps me creatively alive.
Self-portraits are where I play, trying bold ideas and new moods. That energy comes with me to every shoot.
đ Photographers: Make time for your own work.
đžÂ 6. It gives me fresh, on-brand content.
When I show up, you know what to expect: a personal, expressive, and authentic session.
đ Photographers: Be your own marketing team.
đ§ââïžÂ 7. Itâs empowering.
Thereâs something powerful about capturing yourself on your own terms. I carry that energy into every shoot I do for you.
đ Photographers: This is art for you.
