It's fall y'all and I'm absolutely loving it. Weekends are just about booked for family sessions this month and next, but be on the lookout for a special announcement for minis. I'm getting it together to make it happen, and I couldn't be more excited.

If you're interested in minis this year, I'd love your help as I finalize everything. Check stories.

To say that we've had some transitions over here is the understatement of...ever. 😂 And as someone who doesn't thrive in times of change, I can't even begin to describe how wonderful it's been to hunker down and focus on this sweet family of mine.

Moving over the holidays was never something we planned. I absolutely loved and still love our apartment - the place where we brought our babies home to a d built our family. The place with stained carpets from finger painting and flour forever stuck in crack of the kitchen counters from cookie baking. Where I rocked my babies to sleep and took them on walks to the playground. It's was perfect. But as the little grow and we look to the not so distant future of school years, we knew we wanted to offer them a school environment that matched our values.

So we crossed the bridge over to the MD side. 🤯 Never did I think we'd do that in a million years. Is it our forever home...nope! And that's ok. But it's giving us some great insights into being homeowners and what we actually do and don't want for our future.

A bit of a rant, but in the midst of so much change, family is constant. Even as I see my own littles growing and getting not so little, their giggle are still the same. They still love story time. And they still need their parents - just in some different ways.

So, sure change is hard. But stopping to see what's around me and the constants that do peak their heads through is something beautiful.

Crisp mornings mean couch cuddles and kisses. Or (up in this house) scrambling to find that second shoe and make sure we get breakfast eaten before school drop off.

How you all dealing with new school schedules?? Tips on minimizing the number of times I say "sit and eat breakfast"?

You betcha I'm gonna post that summer light as long as I can. We're milking all we can out of summer this year and are spending this last week at the beach before sending our big boy off to kindergarten.

We've read the stories, bought the new lunchboxes and practiced how to open and close them, got the bracelets with the hearts. What am I missing, veteran mamas?

Slow down. It's something I say regularly to two very speedy, energetic littles who are on the verge of being able to outrun me.

With one week of summer left, and even for those who are already back at school and routine, I invite you, too, to slow down. Notice the changing light as the days start getting a little shorter. The mornings getting a little cooler. Your littles getting a little taller.

It's not an easy thing to do as we pack backpacks and lunches and hustle from one activity to the next. But it's so good for the soul, of mamas and littles alike.

Siblings' reactions to a new brother or sister will always be one of my most favorite things to document. There's always a breath of calm to be found.

Sometimes, baby is the one who is sleeping peacefully among the natural whirlwind of toddlers. Other times, big sister or brother is the only one who can calm their new little sibling. Either way, I always leave the home in a big.puddle of happiness.

Who brought the calm vibes when you brought your new baby home? My mom says I was a chill baby. My sister will likely beg to differ or say I'm making up for it now. 😇😁

I love me an in-home session (obvs), especially during heatwave days like today. But getting a classic mama duck photobomb at the Lincoln Memorial is a pretty special memory too (peep that last slide).

This family is so near and dear to my heart. They moved away from DC a few years ago, so to be able to photograph them in a classic DC spot and show their story of where they started their family was super special.

Wherever it is - your home, the beach, the local playground - I love when photos can show your family in the season you're in.

Photographing families like this is a big part of my why behind this business and account. Seeing the joy of a family at home, relaxed and being able to just be themselves...that's when the magic unfolds.

We're not rushing from place to place, but, instead, basking in the light of their home (literally and figuratively). Kiddos were able to be comfortable and silly and cuddly, and everything you want to remember.

So grateful to this sweet family and their inviting me into their home.

Change is hard.

As a highly sensitive person, change has never been easy for me. "Stop messing" was a common phrase even in my youth as my family navigated the evolution of holidays, vacations, and everything else that comes with the passage of time.

We just got back from a vacation with my full family, and with now four kids in tow with varied interests and nap schedules, we opted to stay at a different hotel. And let me tell you, it was fantastic. We came and went as we pleased and were able to still meet up as a full group.

Were there some parts I missed about the place we always stayed? Of course! Were there new parts I liked better? Yup!

And I just kept reflecting on how change is such a constant, but it's felt so much more heavily since becoming a mom. Do I miss their chubby thighs and sweet little voices? Of course. Do I love having more "real" conversations with them as they get older? It's the best!!

So, if you're struggling with change, just know, yeah, it is hard. Really hard sometimes. But the unexpected joys are amazing!

Summer is the best representation of childhood.

It's the one time where we're a bit more free to ebb and flow - to wake up a little later, to stay up a little longer, and to let the day lead rather than dictate. It's a time of dirty feet and wet curls. Of sticky fingers and popsicle drips. To me, it's so much more child -led than any other season.

Which also means it's one of the most beautiful times for a family session. Being able to capture you and your children just as they are, letting them lead - those are images you'll want to look back on years down the road.
