The river keeps moving. The flags still fly. And you, John F. Kennedy Center, will outlast this moment. The arts don’t surrender — they endure, adapt, and come back stronger. So do we. Because if you don’t fight, you won’t win. And we’re not done fighting.

There’s an exhibit at the Smithsonian Castle right now. The curator knew it might be his last act — he’s facing pressure from the White House to tell a different story. He put in the full, complicated, beautiful, painful story of this country anyway — from the desk where Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence to the voices and struggles that have pushed America to live up to its own promises ever since.

58,320 names. Democracy written in blood. They gave everything for something worth preserving — and we’re still here, still working on it.

My parents lived just behind the Meridian Hill Park Fountain when they were first married and spent countless days here. I’ve watched it cycle through years of repairs, on again and off again — and this time, it looks like it’s finally here to stay. 🤞🏻⛲️🤞🏻
