Kind of long post/announcement, so stick with me on this one.
For more than a couple decades I have been wanting to make a documentary basically about what people wanted to be when they grew up and how that changed throughout the year. A few months ago I realized, "why do one documentary when I could tell so many more stories." and so with that in mind I present you with a new project I am embarking on - Lanterns We Lit:
Lanterns We Lit will be a podcast about childhood dreams, grown-up detours, and the wisdom found along the way. Each episode begins with a simple question: “What did you want to be when you grew up?” From there, we explore how those early ambitions shifted through high school, college, and into adulthood, often landing somewhere very different from where they began.
The focus isn’t on the people who “made it” exactly as planned, but on those whose lives took unexpected turns. Guests reflect on why their dreams changed, what obstacles they faced, and, most importantly, what they learned in the process. Even if the dream was never reached, the pursuit of it, the journey beyond it and how it still shaped who they are today.
This is a podcast about the gap between expectation and reality, about resilience, and about finding meaning not in what we became, but in what we discovered along the way.

Every dream, even unfulfilled, still lights the way forward.
