Meet Ms. Jacqueline Bowman aka Ms. Jackie.
Ms. Jackie is an arts instructor at the We Creation Center in South Dallas — teaching hands-on vocational skills-sewing, fashion merchandising, and fragrance design for candles, perfumes, and body oils to middle school students at St. Philip’s School and Community Center. The program has the larger goal of equipping young people with real entrepreneurial skills. But her reach doesn’t stop with the youth.

The We Creation Center, a “hub for human-centered design and innovation” is a collaboration of St. Phillip’s and Dallas Designing Dreams, a community space open to anyone who wants to learn — and Ms. Jackie makes herself available to everyone. It was through St. Philip’s Senior Programs that she began building relationships with a group of women by volunteering to join them on senior field trips. Those field trips became get-togethers. Those get-togethers became something she describes as “a sister circle for the prevention of suffering and silence.”
Every cape and hat the ladies are wearing was designed and created by Ms. Jackie herself — revealed as a surprise on the day of this portrait session. A gift, from her hands and her heart.
She doesn’t show up because she has to. She shows up because she wants to. And the difference is written all over every face in these photos. 🧡

On February 21st, I had the honor of documenting the 17th Annual Vertee Kyle Senior Saints of Wisdom Luncheon for St. Luke Community UMC — a celebration of the elders in my church congregation who have lived lives worth honoring.
And my lovely mother, Rose Anderson, was one of this year’s inductees. And my father, Paul C. Anderson, inducted a few years before, was right there beside her.
I came to this event as a photographer and a daughter deeply grateful I got to tell this story.
This is why I do this work. Not just to capture moments — but to preserve the ones that matter most.

What you’re looking at is more than a portrait session.
About a year and a half ago, Ms. Jacqueline Bowman(far left in peach) began volunteering through St. Philip’s Senior Programs — leading sewing get-togethers at the We Creation Center in South Dallas. What started as a class grew into something much deeper. Ms. Jackie describes what they’ve built together as “a sister circle for the prevention of suffering and silence.”
Every hat. Every cape. Every detail these women are wearing — Ms. Jackie designed and created them herself, out of her heart, as a gift to women she believes deserve to be seen and celebrated.
I was just there to make sure the world could see it.
