We didn’t catch this gentleman’s name. He wasn’t the most talkative, but seemed very eager for us to photograph him. In search of meaningful connections, you will find that some folks aren’t as willing to open up to strangers, and that is ok! We found that even the smallest positive interactions can have an effect on everyone involved. He smiled when we showed him the photo. This is Guy. Guy joined the Army back in the 1980’s and was a Quartermaster. We sat and talked for a while about his time in the military, and the similarities of my experience today.
As I was walking away, I checked a few shots on the back of my camera and noticed they were slightly out of focus. I turned back and said “Guy, man, I messed up”, to which he replied “well then come back and do it right this time!” There is still a lot of Army left in Guy... ———————————————-

Walking the streets of DC, you pass by so many people without even noticing them. Each person has their own story, their own interesting history, that you could never guess.

This is Rob. Rob is a bit down on his luck, and many people just walk on by without a second glance. Would you believe that Rob has a history involving romantic relationships with several very influential DC elites? Or had a father who was an “untouchable” in the FBI?

Is it true? Who knows. It doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is that for a few minutes, we had a connection and sat and talked to one another, which is a rare occurrence here... ———————————————- @ Washington, District of Columbia
