Sharing some joy. 💫Took a break last weekend to accompany our talented summer intern (and collective neice) to NYC to see her choir compete in the World Strides Choral Competition. It did our hearts good to see the young people of The Duke Ellington School of the Arts (who practice sooo hard year round) show out and take home FIRST place. The students were professional, exceptionally skilled and left the audience with chill bumps and in tears. DC…we were well represented.👍🏽💪🏽. To the students, teachers, parents, founders, supporters and alumni of Duke Ellington…thank you. 👏🏾. So proud.

When long-time artist, professor, playwright and all-around magic woman requested not just headshots, but “memorable, provocative, and beautifully expressive photographs” to accompany her new work, we couldn’t wait to get started. During this awards season, so glad to see and the amazing cast/crew of Sinners getting the accolades they deserve. Flashback to some of our favorite moments with MBJ at the NAACP Image Awards years ago. Very grateful to the legendary Earl Gibson for the opportunity to be a part of his team.

That night the legendary Roots crew () teamed up with Music Soulchild () to raise funds for Congressional Black Caucus Foundation () interns at the annual CBCF gala. Now is the time to put those funds to work!!💪🏽 If you know any fired up college students who are ready to represent their communities in DC on Capitol Hill, learn how government works, and make lasting connections…please tell them to apply. We got to end 2025 with a meaningful visit to the National Gallery of Art to check out “Photography and the Black Arts Movement” with the one and only Baba Roy Lewis, who had two pieces featured in the exhibit. Hearing in his own words the importance of capturing and documenting our lives for future generations with intention (even during trying times) filled my cup and has me entering 2026 with renewed focus and purpose. 💫🙏🏽. If you haven’t seen the exhibit, check it out (ends soon…Jan 11). And take an elder with you 😉.

Couldn't let the week go by without wishing you all a happy new year! We learned a lot in 2020...did some pruning, digging up weeds and planted some seeds. Now it's time to grow!! 🌱🌻✨ Here's to new beginnings in 2021!

When your client comes in from Pennsylvania for an updated headshot for her new job and it’s a virtual learning day and she brings her kids and you bring yours. And the makeup artist has done such a beautiful job her kids can’t stop smiling...And our favorite little people jump in and take over the final shot. :-). Happy Thursday!
