The WE behind ME
*
This is Laura, who I have been sharing about recently; one of my closest friends, who, along with her husband, my cousin, are now rediscovering a Long Work in their Home, as it engulfed in flames on Wednesday.
*
She is one of my closest friends, but not only that, but she is intertwined in so many aspects of my life: my family, my work, and my homeschooling. But here is something you might not know - she is not new to my work goals, self-awareness, or mindset. She has been part of the WE behind my work all this time because she is my coach. She is a part of the vision, the challenges, and especially in the small actionable steps I need her to push to take.
She is a hard-working mama of four who manages, with Grace, a fruitful life as a coach, a photographer, and a home renovator. And I also know, deep in my heart, that this current season, though rough and filled with shock and grief, is just setting her up for what will be just the beginning of a whole new adventure that we could never have imagined. You have to know her!!
We took these - imagine Laura and me in her minivan, with only the girls, her daughter, and my two - savoring the last bit of summer before school starts. We want to give our kids a beach day and pure photographer style; take advantage of every opportunity for that great golden hour on the beach. Imagine us soaking up the rays, handing out the beach day treats from our cooler, and laughing uncontrollably because of this random compliment someone had about my wagon wheels on the way to the water ( I couldn’t come up with a come back fast enough - and i am pretty sure the compliment was sincere ) all while the girls play in the sand. Then, as the golden hour approached, we b-line it to the car for our quick outfit changes, not only for us but for the kids, too. Mind you, it’s hot, we are a little sticky, it’s a struggle but one we know will be worth it for the images and the memories. I’m sure we looked hilarious to those just staring at the water when we ascended to the clearest spot on the lake and flew into the formation to take pics of each other, the girls near us doing the same thing with their new Polaroids.
