Fun Fact: Before Boko Photo existed and I was still in college, my photography dream was to work for National Geographic. That was before I knew what it entailed…
For one of my classes I did a report on a natgeo photographer and learned about the long days in [keyword] WILD environments. Hiding for hours to get the shot with the chance of never actually getting the shot, all while being eaten up by bugs and who knows what else. Part of being in the wild is the risk of dangerous encounters. Weather too! I personally like to focus on the adorable encounters so I was pretty naive and my dreams were just that…dreams. The idea of being away from family for months at a time and all the travel and uncertainty scared me and my small town background. Looking back on it, I’m sad I felt that way.
I had no idea I’d end up starting a business and working with people full time! 18 years later I’m still here and occasionally getting my wildlife fix by photographing animals at the zoo. Hey, I’ll take it. And when I’m extra lucky, I get to photograph your dogs. 😊
Anywho, just a random piece of information for your Monday rainy day scrolling. My self-reflection has been strong lately as I navigate my past choices and where I’d like to go from here career wise. If you’re bored, you’re welcome to come along. ❤️
