What looks like wood grain is water. What looks like stillness is a lake in motion. This is a frame of Voorheis Lake shot from the far shore at golden hour.
Some photos are about seeing farther. This one is about seeing closer, into the way light lands. The water was barely moving, just enough to catch the light and pull it into something I didn't expect. Gold and shadow trading places at a rate too fast to count.

There is a place in Colorado where, for thousands of years, rival nations set down their weapons when they crossed the boundary without being asked.

The Ute people, whose oral tradition holds that they have lived here since the begining, not arrived but always been, named Pikes Peak Tavá Kaa-vi: the Sun Mountain 🌄(the highest summit in the background of this frame). The red sandstone formations at its foot are, in their creation story, where humanity began. This ground has been held sacred by every nation that ever passed through it. The tradition that honors it is older than recorded history. 🪨

On this morning of April 18th, the new moon left the sky completely dark. 🌑Four planets had gathered above the eastern horizon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, at the peak of a rare pre-dawn alignment.✨ Jupiter stood above Orion. Venus was entering Ta**us. 🪐

In the image of Indra's Net, every jewel reflects every other jewel. 🕸️ Sky and earth, stone and light, ancient ground and sunrise sky, wonder and discovery, all of it one continuous conversation that was happening long before this photograph and will continue long after. This frame is simply where one thread caught the light. 🌅

The Ute are the native peoples of the Colorado Springs area. The Ute word "Puwa" (pronounced poo-wah) refers to a sacred, universal spiritual energy within everything.

Found it here.

In Dogon cosmology, the Nommo descended from the sky to restore order to a world that had come apart.

I dont know what made these craters. asteroid, comet, ancient collision. but something came from out there and left a permanent mark.

the Dogon would not find that surprising.

🌈✨ Ke kau mai nei ka mākole ✨🌈

Did you know that in Hawaiian tradition, seeing a predominantly red rainbow means a protective presence is near?
🌺The proverb translates to "the red-eyed one rests above," serving as a powerful sign that an ‘aumākua (an ancestral guardian spirit) is watching over the land and keeping you safe.

Nature always has a story to tell if we just look up. 👁️💚

Meet the Black-billed Magpie. One continent away, his European cousin became the first bird in recorded science to look in a mirror and understand what it was seeing. joining apes, dolphins, and elephants in a club most of the animal kingdom never gets into. He seemed completely unimpressed by that fact.
