There is a place in Colorado where, for thousands of years, rival nations set down their weapons when they crossed the boundary without being asked.
The Ute people, whose oral tradition holds that they have lived here since the begining, not arrived but always been, named Pikes Peak Tavá Kaa-vi: the Sun Mountain 🌄(the highest summit in the background of this frame). The red sandstone formations at its foot are, in their creation story, where humanity began. This ground has been held sacred by every nation that ever passed through it. The tradition that honors it is older than recorded history. 🪨
On this morning of April 18th, the new moon left the sky completely dark. 🌑Four planets had gathered above the eastern horizon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, at the peak of a rare pre-dawn alignment.✨ Jupiter stood above Orion. Venus was entering Ta**us. 🪐
In the image of Indra's Net, every jewel reflects every other jewel. 🕸️ Sky and earth, stone and light, ancient ground and sunrise sky, wonder and discovery, all of it one continuous conversation that was happening long before this photograph and will continue long after.
