If we had to give 3 things to look out for while searching for a NJ wedding venue, they’d be:
• A Bridal Attendant! Your venue may say they have a ‘day-of coordinator’ but this is often someone you won’t set eyes on until the ceremony or even cocktail hour. They’re coordinating the hosting aspect of the day. But a bridal attendant is there for YOU. When you have someone by your side from the very beginning, helping you with your train, helping to coordinate the first look, making sure you’re hydrated, using their headset to call on other staff members to gather people who are needed for photos…it makes a HUGE difference. This is a staff member whose sole job is assisting the couple throughout the day, and they will help you to feel stress-free!
• An On-Site Bridal Suite. Specifically one with good window light, neutral walls, and adequate space. Hotels are often cramped, dim-lit, and sometimes have dated decor - they’re designed for sleep, not for weddings! But a bridal suite is designed with the ‘getting ready’ process and (hopefully) photography in mind, so that it will better serve your need for space for the bridal party, have a beautiful spot to hang the dress for photos, and have a beautiful interior for those special pictures.
• A Rain Plan! As someone who got married at a venue with absolutely no rain plan, the stress of knowing that I’d be taking photos under a tent if the weather was bad caused many sleepless nights. Does your venue have spacious indoor spots with plenty of window light? Are there any covered outdoor spaces that would allow for you to have outdoor photos without risking getting wet? Is the indoor ceremony option just as beautiful as the outside option? Peace of mind will allow you to stay positive and focused on the excitement of your wedding day instead of any fears or worst case scenarios.
