When Zabella booked her senior session she knew she wanted the beautiful spring flowers that the Yakima Valley is known for. We met on a perfect spring evening at the Yakima Arboretum, where soft light and blooming flowers set the tone for a calm, easygoing session. We took our time wandering through the gardens, soaking in the colors of spring. To finish, we headed to nearby orchards that were in full bloom m, rows of soft petals glowing the in evening light. As the sun dipped lower, the blossoms seemed to wrap around her, adding a quiet warmth to the final set of images.
Zabella is a current senior at Eisenhower High School. To personalize her session, she brought along her letterman jacket and softball gear, a subtle but meaningful way to highlight something that's become a big part of her life, and adding those small touches helped tell that story in a simple, authentic way.
Before the session, I asked her mom what she hoped we’d capture most in Zabella’s senior portraits. Her answer was beautiful:
“Her happiness and electric personality.”
It’s easy to see those things in Zabella. She’s athletic, kind, friendly, and carries herself with quiet confidence. Her mom shared a little story that stuck with me: when Zabella first started playing softball, she was brand new and one of the least experienced on the team. But through hard work and coachability, she became one of the strongest players just two years later. That kind of determination and heart shows up in every part of who she is today.
Her mom also mentioned how empathetic Zabella is, that it’s one of the things she loves most about her. And after spending just a short time with her during this session, I’d have to agree.
