We had an amazing turnout this year with our peonies! I'm thinking I'm going to give yarn dying a try with the pink blooms!
Update: Petals in the pot!
Update 2: Hopefully this ends up being pink and not brown! If I look through the container against a window I do see a red/pink color. Fingers crossed!
Update 3: Mordanting! This process involves simmering the wool in water with Aluminum Sulfate and Cream of Tartar. This opens up the fiber to make it more receptive to accepting the natural dye color. I talk like I know what I'm doing, but it's all a big experiment at this point! Lol
Update 4: Yesterday was dye day! The results were not exactly what I had hoped. Lol It's a lovely shade of yellow! Kind of honey yellow? Anyone that knows me would also know that this pale, pink skinned girl is not one that can wear yellow and my plan was to make myself a sweater! I'm feeling slightly torn...do I overdye it to a color I can wear, or figure out something else to do with this batch of yarn?
