I’m in Lake Tahoe, Sea Ranch, Italy, and Ojai.

The way your kids actually move through these places. The long summer nights. The extra bright garden fruit. The dog who’s moving slower now, still gathered with the people he loves. Why do I like mixing analog film with digital photography for weddings and family sessions?

It’s another layer of depth.

They aren’t trying to replace or replicate each other.

In a world where humans are creating less on their own, I think our sensitivities to human-made things and processes will in crease and resonate more… this is one place where the energy comes through.

Big thank you to for processing all the above film images for my professional wedding and family work and wild personal work.

You better believe my grandma is somewhere smiling knowing her cameras are still getting dragged around on adventures with me.

It’s like having a your artist weird friend download all your preferences for your wedding day into her hear to sometimes direct you for photos, some times turn into a fly hanging on a wall near by and sometimes gently redirect your day as needed to keep you all in the flow.

We gathered on the land that now holds two family homes and a Glass bowling studio of stunning art slowly built up by the family over time.

We played in the flowers, rocks and grasses with the dogs 🐕 in between some classic poses and let the kids come up with ideas in between the ones we have envisioned on our calls prior.

We even recreated a photo of mom and dad standing on the land with their rake in hand before it became what it is today. (That’s coming in another post, I promise, along with the glass blowing images)

Part of the intention of the session was to be what the family is today while capturing them in their place.

What an honor to do this work and continue to get to meet amazing beautiful humans (and lands, and plants, and animals too)

The Fern Portraits taking place in my atrium begin before the session. We ask us what patterns we want support breaking and with that intention - the styling, the energy, the mood builds…

For this session, we were celebrating all the habits that had been broken to get through to the rebirth. We pulled a card at the beginning of the session and wouldn’t you know it? It was “rebirth” confirming were right in our theme all along. ✨

Don’t hire me if you want a photographer who shows up without understanding who you are.

Every couple I meet with ahead of time.

Then when I am there I do my best to apply those “soft skills”
I read the room, I read you, and I blend my artistic vision with what you’re bringing.

You might want cinematic and guided moments. You might want a mix of editorial with candid where I’m both guiding you and a fly on the wall. Trendy and classic. You get all the things you want because I’m responsive to your energy, your moodboard, not locked into one way of shooting… but with the alchemy of the moment.

Sea Ranch Lodge is one of the most breathtaking venues on the California coast and it deserves to be photographed like it.

The bluffs, the weathered wood, the Pacific crashing below, the way that coastal light hits late in the afternoon or the foggy days. I will never stop chasing it.
