One of my favorite postpartum photos from the last birth I attended. 😂

Because truly… isn’t this just so real? After hours — and sometimes days — of labor, that first real meal suddenly feels absolutely life changing. A hospital menu might as well be fine dining at that point. 🍔✨

Meanwhile, after my own births, I was so nauseous my midwife practically had to force me to eat toast with peanut butter. 😂

What was your first postpartum meal?

And our own little ray of sunshine turning ONE 💛
Sweet smiles, sticky frosting, and the happiest little cake smash ever.

There’s something about birth that words can’t quite hold.
It’s raw.
It’s quiet and loud all at once.
It’s strength you didn’t know you had… and love you’ve never felt before.
And the truth is, so much of it is a blur.
In the intensity of labor, in the rush of decisions, in the moment your baby finally arrives, there are entire pieces of your story you won’t remember. Not because they weren’t important, but because you were in it. Fully. Completely. Powerfully.
That’s where birth photography comes in.
Not for perfection.
Not for performance.
But for remembrance.
For the way your partner looked at you when you weren’t looking.
For the hands that held you.
For the moment you became something entirely new.
Because birth isn’t just about a baby being born.
It’s about you being born, too.
And one day, when the details have softened and time has moved on, you’ll have something to come back to. Something that says:
This was real.
This was powerful.
This was yours.

My daughter had a school photo contest coming up… and no idea where to start.
Instead of overthinking it, we grabbed a camera and headed outside with one simple mission. Find the colors of the rainbow in our neighborhood.
Red ➡️ a budding tree
Orange ➡️ the center of a daffodil
Yellow ➡️ forsythia growing through the fence
Green ➡️ our canoe, a monstera leaf
Blue ➡️ a ladder on the neighbor’s porch
Indigo ➡️ some flowers
Violet ➡️ a few Pez candies
We wandered a little slower than usual and paid attention to things we would have walked right past any other day.
By the end, she didn’t just have one photo. She had a whole collection… a new way of seeing, and a few bonus shots we didn't plan for.
If you’re looking for something simple to do with your kids, or just a reason to slow down for an hour, this was a good one.
📸 Take a color walk
Pick a few colors and head outside. No plan needed.
Let your kid decide what counts.
Look for tiny details, textures, shadows.
Move slowly. Follow their lead.
For older kids, or even yourself, make it more of a challenge. Look for unusual colors. Try different angles. Pay attention to light. You can even limit how many photos you take.
It’s not about getting the perfect shot.
It’s just about noticing.
And sometimes, that turns into the kind of afternoon you don’t forget ❤️

“You’re doing better than you think, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it.”
This sweet baby girl joined a house already full of life, with two curious big brothers, a few burrito swaddles, and even the dogs stopping by to see what all the excitement was about.
Motherhood comes with chaos, cuddles, and tiny victories, and today we celebrated them all.

Have you ever noticed how your baby’s toes curl around your finger when you touch the bottom of their foot?
Like they’re holding on just a little tighter.
That tiny squeeze is called the plantar grasp reflex — but you don’t need to remember the name to appreciate the magic of it. It’s one of those beautiful little ways a newborn’s body says, “I’m here. I’m learning.”
Babies are born with this reflex. When the ball of their foot is touched, their toes automatically curl and grasp. It isn’t something they decide to do — it’s just their nervous system quietly doing its job, building connections and learning how to move in the world.
And then, just as gently as it arrives, it fades. Usually sometime around 9 to 12 months, right when babies start standing, cruising, and getting ready to walk. Their toes need to stretch instead of hold on, so the reflex slowly lets go.
I love noticing things like this. These tiny moments are so easy to miss — but they’re such a beautiful reminder that even when your baby looks still, so much is happening inside them.
Those curled toes aren’t just cute.
They’re your baby growing.
Did your little one do this too? 🤍

As a new year begins, I keep thinking about what lasts.
Not the resolutions we make in a rush.
Not the highlight reels.
But the quiet, ordinary love that keeps showing up anyway.
These photos stop me every time.
An embrace that’s unhurried.
A forehead kiss that says I’ve got you.
A moment of rest in someone else’s chest.
This is the kind of love that isn’t loud—but it’s steady.
The kind built in a thousand small moments: shared mornings, hard seasons, laughter, loss, forgiveness, choosing each other again and again.
As I head into a new year, this is what I’m holding onto:
✨ presence over perfection
✨ connection over comparison
✨ documenting love as it really is—soft, imperfect, enduring
If the new year asks anything of us, maybe it’s this:
to slow down enough to notice the love we’re already living inside of.
I’d love to know—
What’s one thing you want to carry with you into the new year (and one thing you’re ready to leave behind)?
