🎉 Idaho Fire Lookouts is 5 years old! 🎉

Five years of exploring historic sites, researching fire lookout history, fundraising, meeting some INCREDIBLE people, and probably becoming slightly more obsessed with fire lookouts than when we started. 😂

And it all started because Cat couldn’t find a book about Idaho fire lookouts to read… so, naturally, she decided she’d just have to write one herself. 📚

While visiting Salmon Mountain Lookout, she said to Billy, “Hey, let’s write a book!” And without missing a beat, he replied, “OK!”

And just like that, Idaho Fire Lookouts was born. 🔥🗼

Our goals have changed and evolved over these five years. Today, our biggest priorities are fundraising for fire lookout restoration and preservation, and continuing our historical research. Along the way, Billy also built an INCREDIBLE website that has become the home for much of our research—and, for now, the placeholder for that book.

We’ll get it written eventually. 😂📚
