Documentary doesn’t always mean fleeting, and editorial doesn’t always mean posed.

There’s two distinct ways of seeing and observing moments on a wedding day

On one side, you have the editorial eye. The deliberate composition, the subtle adjustment of light, and the gentle direction that transforms a fleeting moment into something cinematic.

On the other, you have the documentary approach. The raw, completely unscripted emotion captured completely as it unfolds, untouched and real.

The beauty is that you shouldn’t have to choose between the two. The spontaneous tear streaming down a cheek during vows requires the same level of observational awareness as setting up an artfully composed moment before walking down the aisle.

Being able to read the room, forecast where the light is moving, and predict a micro-expression a split second before it happens is what blends both documentary and editorial imagery. When those two approaches work together, you don’t just get a gallery of what the day looked like, you get a gallery of how it truly felt.
