🌩️ Watched storms go north and south of 🤷🏻‍♀️Ended with our first bust of the season.

Even with a Slight Risk and a 5% tornado risk, sometimes Mother Nature just says, “Not today.” On to the next chase! 🌪️

⚠️ Storm Update for Eastern North Dakota & Minnesota ⚠️

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon across eastern North Dakota and parts of Minnesota.

🌪️ Main threats:
• Hail up to 1.25” (quarter to half-dollar size)
• Wind gusts up to 60 mph
• A tornado or two cannot be ruled out

Storms may become briefly organized, but the overall threat is expected to remain isolated and somewhat limited. Forecasters are monitoring trends, and a Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Watch is possible but not certain (40% chance).

Please keep an eye on the sky and have a way to receive warnings this afternoon and evening.

Tue 6/23 -12pm Update: Isolated to scattered severe storms are forecast this afternoon, including the potential for large hail and tornadoes. There have been a few updates from this morning's severe potential forecast. Thunderstorms are now expected to develop a bit earlier than previously forecast - now early afternoon. The potential for larger hail (now up to golf ball sized) has increased, along with a small increase in the chance for tornadoes, particularly within portions of northwest to west-central Minnesota. While not widespread, couldn't rule out isolated instances of gusty winds to 60 mph.

🚨WHATER UPDATE🚨
A Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather remains in place this afternoon, including a 5% tornado risk across parts of the area. Additional severe thunderstorms are expected to develop later today, with the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes.

Isolated severe storms are possible today, from mid afternoon into the early evening. Instability will be marginal ahead of a surface trough, but may be strong enough to generate strong to severe storms. Hazards are hail to ping pongs and wind gusts to 60 mph. There is a low chance for brief/weak tornadoes.

🌩️ CENTRAL MINNESOTA WEATHER UPDATE 🌩️

Central Minnesota is under a low-end severe weather risk today. A few scattered thunderstorms may develop this afternoon into the evening, with the strongest storms capable of producing:

🌪️ A 2% tornado risk
🟡 Large hail
💨 Gusty to damaging winds
⚡ Frequent lightning
🌧️ Brief heavy downpours

Not everyone will see storms, but any storm that does form could become strong quickly. While the tornado risk is low, it is not zero, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Keep an eye on the sky this afternoon and evening, especially if you have outdoor plans. As always, we’ll be keeping a close watch and posting updates if storms begin to develop. ⛈️📸
