We Visited the Incredible TWO-STORY H-E-B in Austin, Texas! 🤠

Growing up with H-E-B in Waco, Texas, and being a huge fan of the store for as long as I can remember, I've always appreciated what H-E-B brings to our Texas communities. So when we heard about this newer, two-story H-E-B in Austin, we knew we had to check it out!

On our way to a convention in Houston, Texas, we decided to make a pit stop in Austin to see this impressive store for ourselves.

One of the biggest things we wanted to see was how the shopping carts travel between floors using a special cart escalator system. How cool is that?!

While we were there, we ran into David, who was kind enough to share some great information about the store and explain what makes this location so special. After talking with him, we headed inside to explore!

From the incredible two-story layout and shopping cart escalators to the impressive grocery selection and BBQ restaurant inside, this H-E-B definitely takes grocery shopping to another level!

Being longtime H-E-B fans from Waco, we were impressed with what we saw. It's amazing to see how a Texas favorite continues to grow and innovate while keeping that H-E-B experience we've known and loved for years.

My wife and I are here in Houston checking out the Search & Rescue and Disaster Response Expo!

I’m excited to see some of the latest drone technology, equipment, and innovations being used in search and rescue, public safety, and disaster response.

You can build an app with a long list of features. But if those features don’t communicate with each other, what you really have is a bunch of separate apps living under the same roof.

That’s something I’ve been focused on with DroneHQ. A customer shouldn’t just exist in the Customers section. A work order shouldn’t just exist in Work Orders. Your pilots, aircraft, equipment, preflight checks, documents, flight data, deliverables, costs, invoices, and other parts of the operation shouldn’t all live in their own little worlds. They need to work together.

When you open a job, the information from across the platform should come together and give you a clear picture of that operation. And when something changes in one part of DroneHQ, the rest of the platform should be able to use that information where it belongs. That’s the difference between adding more features and building a connected system.

DroneHQ has a lot of individual capabilities, but the bigger work now is connecting those capabilities into workflows that make sense for an actual commercial drone business. Because the goal isn’t to build ten different tools and put them behind one login.

Another major piece of DroneHQ™ is coming together.

The Business Email phase is now complete, and development has moved into the next part of the DroneHQ workflow: Notifications.

The goal isn’t to fill the screen with alerts.

It’s to make sure the right information reaches the right people, in the right place, when it actually matters.

DroneHQ is being designed so organizations can control how operational information is delivered. That includes things like Sync Agent issues, equipment and compliance reminders, organization activity, security notices, and unread Business Email indicators.

Some information belongs on a dashboard. Some needs a notification. Some may need an email. And some operational events are important enough that they should always be visible.

That distinction matters.

A professional drone operation already generates a lot of information. The last thing operators need is another system constantly competing for their attention. DroneHQ’s notification system is being built around useful, actionable communication instead of notification overload.

We’re also bringing these controls into one organization-wide settings area, giving operators a clear view of what DroneHQ is monitoring and how those notifications are delivered.

This is another step toward connecting the pieces of a commercial drone operation — flights, pilots, aircraft, equipment, customers, communications, compliance, and operational awareness — inside one platform.

Another piece of DroneHQ™ is coming together.

Today’s development work is focused on bringing business communication directly into the DroneHQ workflow.

We’re building the connection for Microsoft 365 and Google, allowing organizations to send and receive customer email without constantly jumping between DroneHQ and a separate inbox.

The goal is bigger than simply adding email.

A drone operation already has enough moving pieces — customers, pilots, aircraft, batteries, flight records, missions, reports, documents, and communications. DroneHQ is being built to bring those pieces together into one connected operational platform.

As this integration develops, organizations will be able to use their own connected business email while DroneHQ helps keep customer and project communication where the rest of the work is happening.

A big milestone for DroneHQ — DroneHQ.tech is officially live.

It’s been a long road getting here.

DroneHQ started with an idea to build something that went beyond simply storing flight logs — a platform designed around how commercial drone pilots actually operate.

We’re getting closer to beta, and today we took another major step forward by launching the official DroneHQ website.

DroneHQ is being built to bring the pieces of a drone operation together: mission planning, flight management, Flight Analysis & Replay, fleet and equipment management, controller sync, battery management, reports and records, compliance documentation, Client Media Delivery for sharing project photos and video with customers, team operations, and more.

There’s still work ahead before beta, and I’m not calling the platform finished. But after all the development, testing, rebuilding, and late nights that have gone into DroneHQ, seeing DroneHQ.tech live on the web is a pretty exciting milestone.

And this is only the beginning.
