Update on my “without power” wedding shoot from Saturday!
In case you’re seeing this for the first time, a massive thunderstorm rolled through during a wedding I was shooting this past weekend and completely changed everything! The entire event was planned to be outdoors, but just before the ceremony, the skies opened up with heavy rain, hail, and nonstop thunder. Then the power went out…completely. No lights anywhere except for a few cell phones, flashlights, and candles.
To make things even wilder, this was an evening wedding. The power went out around 5:45 PM, and with the storm clouds and sunset, we were quickly running out of natural light. By 6:15, the entire venue was pitch black.
So, I improvised. We moved the ceremony into the garage and used every candle, flashlight, and battery light we could find to create something beautiful. The atmosphere turned out to be absolutely magical. Despite all the barriers, we were still able to create an intimate and unforgettable evening.
The lights finally came back on around 8:40, long after the ceremony had ended and the party was in full swing. I made the most of the moment and captured every bit of it I could. Honestly, it turned out to be one of the most exciting and memorable weddings I’ve ever shot. I absolutely love how these pictures came out. I can’t wait to share more of the photos with you! This one will be hard to forget!
