WHEW. I am finally caught up with sharing my parents' visit in stories. It was SUCH a fun trip, and one that was actually extended for my mom 😬

With a COMPLETELY unexpected positive covid result the night before her flight, we got to keep for an extra 10 days. We sent my dad back on their normal flight because we figured he could then test positive by their rescheduled flight, and they would be stuck even longer!

I worked out kind of great - she tested negative on day 5, so was released free from our apartment for the last 5 days before she could fly home! Her and I had a 60 degree day with delicious food, tea, views, and adult conversation sans kids 😍

We're so sad to see them go, but everything is saved in my highlights on Instagram if you want to see all we did!! I promise if you come visit we're going to make it worth your while πŸ₯°β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹

I know so many moms whose first outing as a new parent is just to grab a couple things from the grocery store.

But then you get there, and you're like... where the heck do I put this carseat so I can actually fit the groceries?! Lindsey Fleischhauer had this exact thought, turned the problem into a solution, and was born. A secure, safe, car seat carrier that fits in a shopping cart and gives you back all that cart space for the things you're buying!

In this episode, Lindsey tells us how she came up with the idea, how she tested it, how she built a prototype, and how she took her idea and brand all the way to ! We talk about parenting while doing all those things, how we survived the emotional burden of the pandemic, and what the next steps moving forward are.

I am so thankful to have met Lindsey, and now to be able to call her a friend. If you've ever had an idea that would solve a problem for a mom... This episode is your sign to GET πŸ‘πŸ» IT πŸ‘πŸ» GOING πŸ‘πŸ» because there are so many moms will benefit from your hardwork, too.

If this headshot doesn't make you stop your scroll I honestly don't know what else to tell you. Whitney... you're a straight up extraordinary goddess of a human being.

Whitney founded , a clothing company whose mission is to make beautiful, but practical, dresses and clothing for active moms. I know I personally feel so much better the days I get fully dressed for a day out or home with my kids... but the thought of chasing kids at the park in a dress just is cringy worth. NOT ANYMORE, thank you very much Whitney!

Her journey into the apparel and entrepreneur spaces is truly inspiring - she did it as a newly single mom with two YOUNG kids. This episode had me both laughing and crying, and Whitney is officially one of the people I strive to be more like on a daily basis.

If you need a pick me up, an inspiration, or just a good conversation between to very honest moms, I need you to go listen. Head to the link in my bio , or go to amidstthechaospodcast.com to find where to listen πŸ’ž

We had the BESTTT couple of weeks here in Turkey with a surprise birthday visit from my parents, and a huge highlight was our trip to Cappadocia. I recapped our trip on my stories yesterday, and will continue today, but the whole trip is up on the blog, too!!

The photos on the blog are a mix of my Z6ii (aka big camera) and iPhone photos, but it's worth it to check out. My stories have all the video though soooo it's worth stalking for a bit πŸ˜‚ And if you're reading this in like 6 months... it's all saved in a Cappadocia highlight 😘 πŸ‘‰πŸ»

But in all seriousness, this wasn't a massively planned trip. We are about a 3 hour drive, and since it's winter we were able to book pretty last minute. REGARDLESS of all that, we stumbled upon the most amazing connections ever, and these kind, generous, over-the-top amazing vendors made this trip incredible. If you're one of my Ankara/Turkey friends, all of their contact info is on the blog, but here are their IG handles to follow!

... YOU ARE A TREAT! A teacher turned graphic designer, Stacy works with other entrepreneurs to design and built the perfect sites and brands for their business. I mean, how AWESOME would it be to be a web designer?! (This industry clearly makes me drool 🀣πŸ₯°)

I am proclaiming Stacy "Queen of finding what's right for YOU"... and WHAT a title that is! I am so in awe of her ability to do what's best for herself career wise with NO apologies. She took her skills and her background and turned it into a service based business she can do from ANYWHERE.

I love having former teachers on the podcast, and Stacy is no exception. She is such an inspiration, and I feel like a LOT of you might be in similar shoes as was a few years ago.

Check out her episode out TODAY on Amidst The Chaos!

On this week's episode of ATC, Meaghan spoke about not letting other people's experiences influence what you think is "right" or "wrong" for making your business work. I couldn't help but apply this thought to my industry... and the first thing I thought of was how much pressure there is to "niche down" and pick just one photography type to focus on.

Plot twist - I actually agree with this. But the problem for new photographers is that everyone turns THEIR experience as a photographer into their advice on what niche you should pick, or which ones the "best".

Well guess what? Their experiences aren't your experiences. Period.

So I tried to think of the most effective way to help you new photographers really determine which photography niche is best for YOU... in a step-by-step, logical fashion. And with ZERO pressure to do it overnight!

If you're struggling finding what works for you in your photography business all the way around, head to the link in my bio for my step-by-step guide to finding your niche... with confidence.

PS - dis is mine. My favorite sessions are in home newborns with a toddler sibling. I mean. Just JOY for me.

First off… HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMIDST THE CHAOS!

ATC is ONE YEAR OLD today!! Season 2 has officially kicked off and we are starting out with one of my new favorite friends, Meaghan Langston, aka Meaghan Langston] 🀩

Meaghan went from working as a communications position a dental firm, to becoming a foster mom, to becoming a full time productivity coach and business owner… all within like, 60 seconds πŸ€―πŸ‘πŸ»Her story is so interesting on literally any level you choose to listen for, and I can’t believe we get to kick off season 2 with someone who so easily turned her inherent skills into a business that works for her and her family.

This episode is for you if any of the following are true:

- you are stuck at your job with horrible hours and work life balance, but KNOW you have skills the world needs
- You’re interested in hearing more about foster care, even just a smidge
- You’re a business owner (or employee of any company, or a stay at home mom!) and need some guidance on OPTIMIZING your time!

Head to Meaghan Langston] to check out her amazing calendar consults options - I seriously cannot recommend these more highly! ACTIONABLE, meaningful steps to change your daily routine to be more functional.. and who doesn’t love immediate results?! And the best news… you can use the code AMIDSTTHECHAOS at checkout for 10% off your calendar consult πŸ˜‰

Uhmmm… MY PARENTS ARE HEREEEE!!!

Sean convinced and that we needed a birthday visit SURPRISE here in Ankara! They got here Friday afternoon and it’s been an adventure ever since!

After their first Kahvalti Saturday morning, we headed to Cappadocia for the weekend. We hadn’t been yet because of the chaos of Sean going back to DC this fall, so it was new for all of us, and let me tell you...

I am pretty much completely speechless after 48 hours of PERFECTION. Can’t wait to put all this (and my big camera pics!) up into a blog post for ya, but in the meantime here are some of my faves from the past few days.

So happy to soak in the next week showing my parents around here in Ankara, and celebrating the start of SEASON 2 of Amidst The Chaos - airing wherever you listen to podcasts!!!

PS - the Toddler Tricks Mini Course is 50% off but it ends TOMORROW!! The code β€œdanagrahamfam” is still live at checkout (you can find the link in my bio)!

I mean, even the dog is smiling 😍🀣So much love is in this photo, and that's exactly what your photographer should capture at ANY session with your family.

But sometimes toddlers don't WANT to sit and take 30 photos of 30 different poses. And guess what... they're toddlers - they not SUPPOSED to want that!

So here's your reminder as a parent of toddlers... You don't need 30 photos of everyone smiling looking at the camera. You just need a few! But what you DO need are photos of everyone laughing and having a blast, because that's what's happening when someone isn't professionally documenting your life... you're just in nicer clothes now πŸ˜‚β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹

So when your photographer asks you to play a game, or says they "have an idea"... GO WITH IT. Trust that they are going to capture all the images you WANT, plus a bunch you didn't know you NEEDED.

And what will you get? THIS sort of magic βœ¨β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹

These smiles kill me. And I'm not even related to these three!

As a photographer, sometimes getting all the stars to align is tough when it comes to getting a boat load of toddlers to smile at the same time during a shoot! After doing it for a few years, it became pretty second nature to me, but I know that's not the case for everyone.

Today on the blog I have 4 tips for photographers ahead of their next session with tiny humans. It's goooood, I'm not gunna lie. Check it out at the link in my bio or in stories!

I’m editing these 3 iPhone shots on my stories today! I’m getting them up on my , and figured I’d give you a behind the scenes on my before and afters.

Presets, whether they’re for mobile photos or β€œbig camera” images, just CANT β€œfix” every single photo. As preset creators, we do our best to enhance your images, but it’s not a one size fits all model.

The best thing you can do is find some presets that GENERALLY help you enhance the type of photos you’re taking, and then learn how to tweak them to fit the exact lighting/color situation of each individual picture.

Later this week, I’m also going to edit some of YOUR problem photos and explain what I would do for each. So hop over to my stories to watch me edit these, and be thinking about what questions you have when it comes to editing your own photos!

I find it SUPER interesting to see how different personality types struggle with different business hurdles. If you're a perfectionist, or someone that's worried about what others will think of you, this quote from is absolutely going to be one of those hurdles.

I know if my husband had a business, for example, he would literally not think TWICE about what other people would think of him, or if it was "the right time" to launch.

That's one of my favorite things about hosting a motherhood and business podcast - I interview guests with COMPLETELY different personalities and strengths! I get incredible advice from incredibly different points of view each week, and then I get to share them with you all.

If you're thinking about starting your own business, but don't know exactly what will work best for you, get ready for next week!! Season 2 premiers next Tuesday February 8th, and we are READY to get stories of even MORE mompreneurs from even MORE industries told and into your earbuds!
