I’m always shocked to see how many photographers run their businesses without the help of a CRM.

I was one of those photogs too but the payoff just wasn’t there and now with the introduction of automations and AI on the CRM I use I can’t imagine running my business without it.

Investing in a tool that allows you to manage your business while also giving your clients a professional experience with you is an easy choice IMO.

My first conversation with K was strained. It was in the summer and I was on a train when we had our consultation scheduled. The service was in and out and we kept losing our connection. Finally we were able to connect once I got to our hotel room in DC and K was able to share her story with me of how she and S met while living in Massachusetts. Then a job brought both of them back home to VB and she was excitedly planning their wedding.

What I loved most about K was she was very willing to share right away the concerns she had around choosing and hiring a wedding photographer. She had observed close members of her circle have less than experiences with photographers and she wanted to be sure she was choosing right. It was refreshing to hear and I happily took the opportunity to address her valid concerns head on.

On the day of their wedding K’s Mom thanked me several times over for making K feel so incredibly comfortable and calm. This is feedback I receive regularly from my clients about their wedding days. I honestly don’t know what in particular I do to achieve this. I don’t know if it’s a single thing on the day or the communication I have with them leading up to their wedding? I probably should ask and report back.

I don’t share this story to brag but to encourage others. When clients ask questions it can be interpreted as “pushback” or problematic but really they’re giving you an opportunity to win them over with your own expertise and insight. Answers can seem obvious but most of the time when someone hires you as their photographer it’s their first experience. All they know is that they want to have photos that they love and a good experience in the process. You’re more than capable of giving them that ❤️

You’re a creative and a business owner and honestly….it’s a lot.

Even for someone who’s done it for years like myself.

The best investment you can make in your business, maybe even before a website *GASP* is in a CRM.

HoneyBook has been my CRM from day1 and they have never failed me. They actually get better and better every year. They constantly innovate to find ways to make our jobs easier as business owners.

AND YES, I use an ai software to assist me in editing photos. It’s not the end all. I still spend several hours perfecting my images before delivering them but Imagen | AI Post-Production for Photographers & Videographers has been the ultimate time saver for me the last two years.

Photographers, say this with me:

“It’s ok to try new things”

I think we get stuck in this idea that all of our work MUST look the same. We forget that the basis of being a photographer is to BE CREATIVE. That means trying new things!

I don’t mean going from a true color photog to film noir but challenging yourself, stretching your imagination is really important.

It keeps us from getting burned out and when this is your lively hood, that’s the last thing you want to happen ❤️
