Sometimes life takes you away from where you’re meant to be so you can appreciate it when you find your way back.

Today I’m incredibly proud to say that KayLa Ruiz Photography officially has a home at The Void in Virginia Beach.

Two years ago I packed up my life and left the city that helped build my business. Today, standing in this space, surrounded by the community I missed so much, feels like coming home in every sense of the word.

Thank you to Shaina&AJ for inviting me in with arms wide open. The best and kindest people you will ever meet. I already feel at home here and I can’t wait to make magic here daily!

I met Mina in 2012. She was my supervisor at a bank I worked at. She was always yelling “KAYLAAAA!” From the office that it became an inside joke. I met her when she was 36 and I was 22. I am now 36 and she came to me asking for 50th birthday photos. Full circle moment. I said ABSOLUTELY. We chatted about her vision and what she wanted from the photos and here some of my favorite we cane up with. At the end she grabbed me in a hug and told me how proud she was of me. And I realized she’s one of the people who has known me since the very beginning when photography was just a dream. So that “I am proud of you” mean everything to me. ❤️‍🔥

When Talia and I first got together she had never even really heard of this genre of photography. You’d never know it today. Watching her fall in love with what I do in her own way has been so incredible. She sees what this work does for our clients and it’s been a privilege to even watch it happen for her. I love this set so much. When Talia and I met C&S we immediately bonded. They came to see me for Valentine’s Day weekend and from the moment I opened the door their love was evident. The kind I knew I was just going to love capturing. I know I sound like a broken record but this is what happens when I’m truly let into your connection. Love is the best thing we do. ❤️‍🔥
