Drone technology has improved immensely over the last decade. Back in 2015 in Nepal we were flying the original Inspire 1, and Phantom 2 drones with a GoPro 4. No joke, every flight was a game of roulette, and sometimes the drones didn't come back.
Now we've been flying the Inspire 3, Mavic 3 and 4, with full permits and altitude unlocks from DJI over in the Himalaya and they perform with mind-bending battery life and very reliable image transmission. Launched from Everest base camp at sunset, this photo of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse, was taken from an altitude of 28,000 feet, with plenty of power to climb higher. In low winds, we have been able to fly up to the summit!
Unlocking creative tools with continually improving technology has been an exciting wave to ride, and we're excited to see what's next in the drone and camera industries for our next big expeditions!
