A couple years back, Scott Rogers on our team shot this for Outside Magazine.

Every fall, BASE jumpers gather in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to jump off some of the world's tallest buildings. For several days, in cooperation with the building owners, the city, and other local organizations, this rowdy expo brings jumpers in from all over the world to practice their sport on a global stage in a fun and controlled environment.

This jump, from the top of the observation deck of the KL Tower at 276 meters, is plenty tall enough to get the blood pumping and butterflies fluttering. Here, Malachi Templeton jumps backwards spinning into the void below.

When Jimmy Chin Jimmy Chin reached out to Mark Fisher Mark Fisher because he needed the most badass high-altitude camera team on the planet it was an instant “I’m IN” from Mark, starting a more than 6 year saga. Congratulations to Jim Morrison and Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi for an amazing project and film.

The snow line is starting to make its way down the mountains, and here in the Tetons we love to see it. One good wind and the leaves are gone, so when the sky does this, we drop everything and go.

It’s not the lowest BASE jump in the world, but when you’re standing at the top of it, it sure seems like it.

That’s Looking Glass Rock, south of Moab, Utah, and this exit is a strange one, barely 127 feet to the ground. The hill it sits on stretches that out to about 180 by the time you’re standing on the ground below. Sandy, forgiving, technical enough to keep you honest. It’s one of the shortest jumps in the desert, and somehow one of the most photogenic.

This particular shot is old now, more than a decade, but it’s earned its keep. Outside Magazine ran it, then put it on the cover of their calendar, and we still catch ourselves staring at it like it’s brand new. Something about the scale of that arch next to something as small and human as a person under canopy.

Happy October! It’s desert season now, and Moab keeps handing us moments like this. We just try to be there with a camera when it does.

Okay, WOW. Kebler Pass just went full send on the fall colors and we are HERE for it. That stand of aspens is throwing down gold and orange against a sky that can’t decide whether to storm or shine, with a snow dusted peak flexing in the background.

Fun fact: Kebler Pass is home to one of the largest aspen groves in North America, and come autumn, this stretch of Colorado backcountry turns into an absolute wonderland. Moody clouds roll through one second, patches of blue break loose the next, and those white aspen trunks glow against a wall of color. Peek behind that ridge and you’ll catch even more groves lighting up in streaks of red, yellow, and green.

This is exactly why shoulder season has our whole hearts. The light won’t sit still, the weather keeps you guessing, and every few minutes the pass hands you a brand new photograph.

Golden light, gathering storms, one seriously good Friday. Let’s gooo!

Sometimes we look back in time at some of the sickest projects we've been a part of, and this Tree BASE jumping project was definitely one of them. Our DP Scott Rogers dreamed this one up with a few friends and put a lot of time into making it happen.

Step 1: Search far and wide for a legal and safe place to jump out of a tree. Scott did weeks of research on Giant Sequoia groves outside of the National Park so that the team could legally climb. The key was to find a suitable tree that was tall enough, had a limb sticking out to clear the rest of the canopy, and a suitable landing area. After 10 days of driving across California and hiking through the woods, he found the perfect spot.

Step 2: Put the team together. 4 of the best BASE jumpers around convened in California. Matt, Matt, Johnny, and Will all brought decades of collective experience together.

Step 3: Train. Johnny is one of the premier tree climbers and arborists in the country. Under his instruction, the team honed their tree climbing skills in the gym and then on site.

Step 4: Climb and Prep the Jump. The team spent about 2 days climbing the tree and moving ropes into position. After Will conducted a safety assessment with different distance calculations, the team also fixed ropes into adjacent trees in case of an errant landing in order to speed up rescue.

Step 5: Jump! After all that work, the resounding feeling from this project was nothing short of complete awe, and reverence for this incredible place and getting to spend such a special time there.

They say that Bear Lake in northern Utah / southern Idaho is the Caribbean of the West. Looking at the crystal clear water, we can see why!

Bailey Dunn, professional wakesurfer, absolutely ripped during our recent shoot for Salt and Swagger. It was so fun to watch her carve up and down that turquoise face like it was nothing, dropping into a low crouch, trailing her hand through the wall of water, and popping right through the curl with a grin on her face the whole time.

That kind of style doesn't happen by accident. Bailey's spent years dialing in her craft, and you can see it in every line she draws: confident, playful, and always stoked for more.

What we love about days like this is that the lake does half the work for you. That glassy, impossibly clear water turns every wave into a window, so you get to watch the whole trick unfold from board to spray. Bailey threw down turn after turn, throwing buckets and finding pockets most of us wouldn't even see, all while making it look easy (it is not easy).
Huge thanks to Bailey for bringing the stoke and reminding us why we love this sport.

Braydin Senderson hits these massive gaps for breakfast. And that's what we were up to last Friday!

Last week we joined Salt and Swagger for an epic couple days of filming in northern Utah. Salt and Swagger is a new high-quality sunscreen company that is taking to the market. As avid sunscreen users and extreme sports fans, we're super pumped!

We snapped this shot of Braydin from the Inspire 3. Since it films in 8k, we're able to pull frames from the footage at nearly 40 Megapixels, making this powerhouse of a drone even more fun to shoot! Keep an eye out for the footage soon!
