Most people see the final photos on social media, but they don’t always see everything that happens behind the scenes.

The emails.
The phone calls.
The styling consultations.
The location scouting.
The outfit planning.
The editing.

Over the last several days, I’ve walked you through the entire senior portrait experience—from your first inquiry all the way to product delivery.

And while there are a lot of moving parts, my goal is simple:

Let’s be honest…

Most photos today live on our phones, computers, and social media accounts.

But your senior portraits deserve more than that. 💕

They deserve to be seen.

They deserve to be enjoyed.

They deserve to become part of your family’s story.

One day, Instagram will change.
Phones will be replaced.
Hard drives will fail.

Part 8: What Happens After Your Ordering Appointment?

You’ve selected your favorite images, chosen your products, and now it’s time for the finishing touches! 🎉

After your ordering appointment, I’ll begin professionally retouching all of your selected images. This process typically takes about one week and includes the final polishing that makes your portraits truly shine. ✨

Once your images are complete, I’ll send over any album or product designs for your approval. Every product must be approved before I place your order to ensure everything is exactly the way you want it.

After approval, your order is sent to my professional lab where your custom products are handcrafted just for you. Most products arrive within 1–2 weeks after being ordered.

During this time, you’ll also receive your digital images so you can start sharing them with family and friends (and of course all over social media 😉). I love seeing your photos online, so be sure to tag me when you share them!

One of my favorite parts of being a senior photographer is following along during your senior year. I love seeing college acceptances, prom photos, graduation celebrations, athletic achievements, and all the milestones that come after your session. 💕

When your products arrive, I personally inspect every item to make sure everything meets my quality standards before it reaches your hands.

Once everything passes inspection, I’ll contact you to schedule pickup and get your beautiful artwork, albums, and portraits into your home. 🖼️✨

And just like that, your senior portraits become more than photos—they become keepsakes that will help you remember this season for years to come.

Your Image Reveal & Ordering Appointment is where you’ll see your senior portraits for the very first time and make all of your final image and product selections.

We’ll start by watching a slideshow featuring all of your favorite images from your session. 💕

Fair warning: Moms may cry a little. 😭

And seniors… if she does, give her a hug. She’s probably wondering how her baby grew up so fast.

After the slideshow, we’ll go through your images together and narrow them down to your absolute favorites. I’ll help guide you through the process so it feels easy and stress-free.

From there, we’ll build the collection that best fits your family and decide things like:

✨ Which images you love most
✨ How many digital images you’d like
✨ Whether you’d like wall art for your home
✨ Framed prints, canvas, or metal artwork
✨ Your heirloom album size and design
✨ Graduation announcements, gifts, and other products

This appointment is where all final decisions are made, so I encourage everyone involved in the decision-making process to attend.

Once everything is selected, I’ll begin preparing your images and designing your custom products. Albums and wall art are carefully created just for you, and you’ll have the opportunity to approve your album design before it is sent to print.

Before your image reveal and ordering appointment, I want you to start thinking about how you’d love to enjoy your photos every day.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is waiting until the ordering appointment to think about products for the very first time. Planning ahead makes the process SO much easier and less overwhelming. 🙌

Before your appointment, I’ll send over helpful information about sizing and product options so you can start visualizing what would work best in your home.

And if you’re unsure about sizing — don’t worry. I’ll guide you through all of it. 😊

Part 5: What to Expect the Day of Your Session

Session day is FINALLY here!! 🎉📸

For my girls, the day begins with professional hair + makeup by Pittsburgh favorites at 💄✨

And honestly? Professional hair and makeup makes SUCH a difference for senior portraits.

Here’s why:
✨ Makeup for photography is VERY different from everyday makeup. Professional artists use HD, camera-ready products designed to photograph beautifully.

✨ Pittsburgh weather can be HOT and humid. Waterproof makeup helps keep you looking fresh and flawless from beginning to end.

✨ You don’t have to stress about doing your own makeup perfectly before a big session day. You get to relax and be pampered instead. 💕

✨ Whether you want natural and glowy or full glam, your look is customized to YOU.

Once hair and makeup is complete, we’ll head to our first location! You’ll change into your first outfit once we arrive so your clothes stay wrinkle-free during the drive. 👗🚗

PRO TIP:
Wear a button down or zip-up shirt to your hair and makeup appointment so you don’t have to pull clothing over your freshly styled hair and makeup later. 👏

My Senior Experience Sessions typically last about 2.5–3 hours and usually take us right up until sunset for that dreamy golden light. 🌅

And yes… bring water and snacks!! Maybe even a sandwich if you know you get hangry. 😂 Trust me, it helps!

Most importantly — relax, have fun, and trust the process. You do NOT need to know how to pose. That’s my job. 💕

Part 4: Preparing for Your Senior Session

Your session is almost here!! 🎉📸

A little prep beforehand can make SUCH a big difference in how smooth and stress-free your session feels.

A few things I recommend before your session:
✨ schedule nail + brow appointments ahead of time
✨ iron or steam your outfits
✨ bring clothes on hangers to keep them wrinkle free
✨ gather shoes, jewelry, hats, sports gear, props, etc.
✨ make sure everything is packed the night before

And girls… don’t forget n**e undergarments and the right bra options for different outfits. Trust me on this one. 😂👏

The MOST important thing?
Get a good night’s sleep the night before your session. 💕 Tired eyes and stress show up quickly in photos, and I want you feeling confident, energized, and excited for your day.

The goal is for session day to feel FUN, not rushed or chaotic. The more prepared you are beforehand, the more relaxed and confident you’ll feel in front of the camera.

Before your consultation, start gathering outfit ideas you LOVE. Screenshot outfits, make a Pinterest board, pull clothes from your closet, go shopping and don’t forget shoes + accessories too.

My biggest advice?
Choose outfits that feel like YOU — not just what’s trendy. The best senior photos happen when you feel confident and comfortable. 💕

And yes moms… this is also the perfect time to start thinking about wall art, albums, and where your portraits may live in your home later on. 😉
