Another exciting morning at Spanish House!

It’s my third morning photographing these surfers, and I love seeing how each has their own style. Some charge into every wave, while others sit quietly, taking in the sunrise and rhythm of the surf until the right wave comes along.

A quick stop at Sebastian Inlet this morning—and I’m so glad I did! 🌊🏄

That’s where the action was! The swell was rolling in, and the surfers were absolutely shredding.

Early mornings in New Smyrna Beach have their rewards. ✨

Whenever I’m there, I love walking the beach toward the inlet—watching the surfers, spotting birds along the jetty, and taking in the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse.

This morning, I was out before sunrise and watched the lighthouse illuminate the channel, its light reflecting across the water.

Quiet, peaceful, and absolutely magnificent. 📷

When you meet a potential client for the first time, and they tell you they found you on Google and reached out because they “liked your vibe.”

Well… that made my day! 😊📸

Photography is personal. It’s not just about liking someone’s images—it’s about feeling comfortable with the person behind the camera, too.

Knowing that someone connected with my work and got a sense of who I am before we even met? That means a lot.

Sometimes, it really does start with a vibe. ❤️

Over the past month, I’ve had the privilege of capturing a very special moment again and again—the look on someone’s face when they see a sea turtle egg or hatchling for the very first time. 🐢💚

Supporting the Coastal Connections team has truly been an honor. Their enthusiasm and knowledge are contagious, and watching them share both with our community at each turtle dig has given me an even greater appreciation for the important work they do.

But the children’s faces have been some of my favorite moments to capture—the surprise, curiosity, and absolute wonder when they see a tiny hatchling or discover an egg beneath the sand.

Conservation starts early. Give a child the opportunity to experience something like this, and you never know what seed you may be planting. I’m confident these experiences will stay with many of these young minds for years to come.

Cheers to a banner nesting season—one that has broken records, inspired a new generation of conservationists, and filled my heart with joy. 🐢🌊

Every year, I create my JJ Photo Gallery calendar as a labor of love. It isn't something I do for the profit — I create it as a way to share some of my favorite moments from the year with all of you who follow, encourage and support my photography along the way.

But putting it together takes a lot of time, thought and care, so before I begin working on a 2027 calendar, I'd really love to know:

Happy World Photography Day! 📸

And I’m so glad there’s a day to celebrate something that has brought so much joy into my life.

With a camera in my hand, I’m given the opportunity to show people a world they might otherwise never see—the small details, fleeting moments, beautiful light, and incredible things happening all around us.

I’m also constantly inspired by my fellow photographers and the way they capture moments in time. Their images remind me to slow down, breathe, and take a closer look at the world around me.

Maybe that’s what I love most about photography. It doesn’t just preserve a moment—it helps us see things we might otherwise miss. ❤️
