A Great Horned Owl that I have enjoyed watching from my bedroom window. Today I ventured out to take his photo and we had a nice staring contest. An interesting fact about these owls is that their eyes don’t move in their sockets but they can swivel their heads more than 180 degrees in any direction. These owls have incredible night vision which makes them very aggressive nighttime hunters - often known as “tigers of the night”

1. September is when the swallow birds begin to gather around Monomoy Island, the southern tip of Cape Cod, gearing up for their big migration South, usually in October. 2. As bait fish get pushed up to the surface of the water, various birds eagerly await their meal. 3. Monomoy Point Lighthouse, one of my favorites. 4. Backside of Monomoy Island. Fall is in the air!

Had an amazing day seeing these Humpback whales off of Provincetown on the Cape yesterday. One even kept slapping the water with its fin. I want to believe it was saying hello, but it could be it was trying to slap barnacles off of its fin. But always a treat to watch these mammals up close. They are about 45-60 ft. We even saw young ones.

The Least Tern bringing a fish back to its mate. This is part of their courtship. The Least Terns are the smallest of all the terns. And if you ever come near to their breeding colonies, they will dive bomb you to scare you away.
