Truly heartbreaking news. 💔

Very sad to learn today of the passing of young Virgin Atlantic engineer Georgie Buxton, aged just 23.

Thoughts and condolences go out to both his family, friends and his colleagues at Virgin Atlantic during what must be an incredible difficult time.

The Met Police is investigating the circumstances of how Georgie Buxton died from injuries sustained while working on a jet.

The Supermarine Spitfire PR Mk XIX (PR Mk 19) from the recent live show from Farnborough Airshow.

It was the ultimate operational version of the famous Spitfire and the last to enter RAF service. Unlike the Battle of Britain Spitfires, it was not a fighter – it was built specifically for photographic reconnaissance (PR), flying deep over enemy territory to gather intelligence. 225 were built.
It also had a pressurised cockpit which was much more comfortable for pilots.

Engine: Rolls-Royce Griffon 65 or 66 V12 engine.
Power: Approximately 2,050 horsepower.
Top speed: Around 445 mph (716 km/h).
Service ceiling: Around 42,000–43,000 ft.
Range: Up to 1,500 miles (2,400 km) thanks to additional internal fuel tanks.

No guns or cannon.
Camera ports in the rear fuselage.
A distinctive five-bladed propeller.
A larger Griffon engine with a longer nose.
A broad-chord fin and rudder.
Often painted in PRU Blue (Photo Reconnaissance Unit Blue), a blue-grey colour that helped conceal it against the sky.
