Sneak peek at what I am HOPING will be a cool photo. The moon will be 60%-ish illuminated tonight - not good. BUT, by the time I take this photo, the moon will be behind me, so I'm hoping it won't create enough light pollution to ruin the shot. I also didn't check the dark sky map.

I went out hoping to find some morels. I think I'm still too early, but since it has been a warmer winter, I was hoping they'd come out a bit earlier. Either I was wrong, or I was looking in the wrong place. Either way, I did capture a pine bonnet.

Update on the flooding that happened last night/this morning.

Our pedestrian bridge is, once again, out of commission, and a section of Main St is completely flooded.

We woke up this morning to about 3 inches of snow. By mid-morning, the falling snow had turned to rain. By the afternoon, the creeks had risen by about 10 feet. Normally, the water in this part of the South Fork Palouse River in City of Pullman is only maybe 5 feet wide (?) and somewhere around 3 feet deep (if I had to guess).

Right now, it's about 40 feet wide and somewhere around 15 feet deep and moving fast. It's forecast to keep raining all night until 8am or 9am tomorrow morning.

I am thankful I let my wife wake me up at 0300 to see and capture the lunar eclipse. This was neat to see with my eyes, ...

I went up to Steptoe Butte State Park this morning. I've been looking forward to seeing the park for a while, but it had been closed since before my family and I moved to Washington. Apparently, last Spring, the rains washed out the roads in the park, and they've spent the last 10-11 months rebuilding.

I definitely want to spend more time up there throughout the year. I will need to see what I can do about getting a permit to be there after hours for some Milky Way photos this summer.
