Today was a hard day.
In the early hours this morning, one of my dear clients of six years passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She fought with everything she had until she simply couldn’t anymore.
From the very first moment I met her, she treated me like family. She was truly a light in the lives of everyone who knew her. I had the honor of capturing so many meaningful moments for her family — her son’s senior football photos, their family memories, and most recently, her wedding this past June.
I will never forget watching her dance the night away, surrounded by the people who loved her most. Her smile was contagious, and the love she had for her husband and son could be felt so deeply — even through a photograph.
Tonight’s sunset felt especially beautiful… one of those skies that makes you pause for a moment. It’s hard not to think of her in that light — peaceful, radiant, and still shining in a different way.
Cancer is a thief. It does not care how kind, strong, or beautiful a person is. Please, listen to your body and advocate for yourself.

Why Luz Photography

The name Luz Photography came from a very special person I met several years back by the name of Luz Velazquez. Not only is Luz for a special person but if you speak Spanish you may know that the word luz means light, and we all know that without light we don’t have photography.
