While “thank you” seems like a really simple and reciprocal phrase, it’s a phrase I’ve been ruminating over for 6 months. Surprise! We’re ruminating. 🎈

“Thank you” was the last thing I said to my momma in that hospital bed, before walking away from her earthly vessel forever. I never received a response back, of course, but I said it knowing it was a gift, and with a gift, it’s the act of giving that is the intent. The inspiration to offer something to someone does not arrive on the wings of hope for receiving anything in return, not even a whisper of a word, but on the most basic and tender nature of “I love you and I want to leave you with this.”

Thank you, for the gift of life
Thank you, for the creative gift of art
Thank you, for the warmth of wonder
Thank you, for fighting for my health and life
Thank you, for putting that camera in my hands
Thank you, for letting me dream big even when I was so small
Thank you, for being my mom though our moment together in this lifetime as mother and daughter was cut short
Thank you, for finding me in the past, present and future
I love you, thank you
🤍

If you need me, I’ll be sobbing over this quote for the rest of eternity. ✨

So, there’s this cone. She resides in the rose garden, living her best flower life and beaming her orange flower light into the universe. Imagine the stories she could tell, the things she’s heard and seen whilst holding down earth amongst the roses.

I daydream of her in the diem, and we dance in my dreams when the moon comes to play. If you visit the rose garden, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to be inspired by her, too.

First captured inside a hole by me in August (Kodak Tri-X 400 B&W) and then again in October (Revolog Kolor 400). I hope you love her like I do. 🧡

Gull Lake on the June Lake Loop, California // September 2025

I feel like this lil duck — out of focus. My surroundings clear as day, flowing by at the speed of light, leaving me in their wake.

I am eternally grateful for the practice of photography and working with light. Every obstacle feels at least a lil bit more manageable with my camera by my side. Also endlessly grateful for and love Tuff Dad very much, from the side view mirror, to the stars and back. ✨

Thank you for looking. 🤍

They say you can guide spirits with a flame; boy howdy have I tried. 🤍

These images, despite being in black & white, feel undeniably warm and radiant to me. 🖤

💍

I thank you endlessly. ♾️

Love that I then arranged in some of my favorite lil vases I’ve collected over the years and captured in various spots at my parent’s house — a place of so much love & comfort and yet somehow, great tragedy & horror, too. A most special and complicated relationship.
