My heart!! I just love when I get inquiries that want to incorporate a surprise proposal into their session! We planned every little detail with so much precision, finding the perfect spot, the perfect time at sunset and of course the perfect excuse to take pictures in this gorgeous rose garden! Lately, I’ve been drawn to locations that can be really fun for the kiddos; and who doesn’t like splashing around in the water on a warm summer day?! I’ve known the Holland Family since the very start of my photography business so this was a very special session before they moved away. This was such a special session, the type where you immediately connect upon meeting and feel like you’ve been friends for ages. These two traveled out of state to celebrate their anniversary west coast style so we planned to make the evening extra special. When we arrived the marine layer and wind tried to take us out but with high spirits we embraced the drama of the weather. Halfway through our time together, all of sudden the sun broke through the fog giving us the most incredible sunset… man was it so worth it!⁣

I realized today that I still have so many weddings to share! Even though I take on a select number of weddings per year, I have learned so much the past decade! Some of my favorite weddings have been the small intimate celebrations with little pockets of moments to step away, soak in the day together and allowing the newly married couple to be fully present with their family and friends. ⁣
⁣
Kyra and Henry is such a great example, saying their vows cliffside surrounded by their loved ones. We planned their ceremony right before sunset so we could have the most romantic golden hour setting for their portraits along the beach while they soaked in all the giddy feels that they were finally married! Afterwards we met up at a favorite local restaurant that had a private section for their reception that felt so intimate yet so lively! Such a special evening with these two! ⁣

A little secret I’ve been keeping. I’ve been practicing slowing down, gravitating toward moments that feel real rather than perfect. Photography can be curated so beautifully, but there’s something ethereal in the un-curated moments.
