Mind blowing exposition at the Museé d’Arte Moderne de Paris of Lee Miller—so incredibly ahead of her time in so many ways! She collaborated with Man Ray and Cocteau before WWII, then worked on the front lines for Vogue as a photojournalist and photographed the liberation and the horrific atrocities of the concentration camps. The photo of her in the bathtub was in Hitler’s bathtub. She was first on the scene when his house was discovered burning. Touching so much evil left her permanently mentally scarred. I’m so grateful to have experienced her incredible work—an American legend✨

In honor of Earth Day I wanted to highlight this quote by Dr. Sylvia Earle (the first female chief scientist to lead NOAA) ✨Discovering her work has inspired my latest series “Oceans Not Mars” and led to my investigation of our incredible relationship and interdependence on the ocean. Here is another of her salient quotes:
“If you think the ocean isn’t important, imagine Earth without it. Mars comes to mind. No ocean, no life support system.”

The first image is an experimental cyanotype on metallic paper; the image and videos were shot while diving in the Florida Keys National Sanctuary last month (making the most of my Spring break when not teaching in the darkroom!)

I’m excited to share a new series of experimental cyanotypes on metallic paper ✨

These images were created from my recent dives in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary—one of the most biodiverse marine environments in the world. Translating these underwater moments into cyanotype on a reflective surface has opened up a new dialogue between light, depth, and material.

These prints are headed to the Eco-Discovery Center in Key West, where they’ll be exhibited in a space dedicated to celebrating the unique and fragile ecosystems of the Florida Keys.

Grateful to be part of a venue that honors the beauty and complexity of our oceans 🌊

We made it—🙌 the installation was brutal because of the crazy wallpaper in every room (giant primary color, ink lights that had to be covered up.)The room is ready (phew) and the artwork is installed—we’re ready to roll. It is quite a process putting this show together but so satisfying when completed ✨I hope if you’re in Los Angeles this weekend you had down to Venice Beach and taken all the fabulous Tonight, Saturday 12 to 9PM, Sunday 12 to 7PM. Hope to see you all there!!
