Final approach. After a short break, working on fresh imagery while sticking to the coast and preparing to capture new scenes along the water. A lone pelican glides past Stump Pass off Lemon Bay. Summer is on the horizon!

A new chapter unfolds, and as the dust settles, the time is ripe to explore, chase sunsets on the Gulf, and unlock fresh inspiration near Lemon Bay and Stump pass, with a new destination on the horizon, just a little more south for Black Sails Creatives! New images are on the horizon.

Top Awards for 2025.
A photograph I took of a pelican in flight has become a highly popular image for prints and downloads and has been acknowledged by the international UCP photography group as a top wildlife photograph for 2025. Black Sails Creatives was also recognized as one of their Photographers of the Year. Additionally, our work in coastal color imagery was just honored with a Masters of Excellence award.

I'm set up for the day with the Artist Colony in Englewood, Pioneer Plaza Stage. Stop by on Dearborn Street and say a hi if out and about. There are some great Veteran Owned artist here today!

Visited one of our favorite spots, the Butterfly Enclosure at the Marie Selby Gardens, where the colors are incredibly vibrant. A recent photo of a Julia butterfly beautifully showcases the contrast and adds to the charm of this peaceful setting.

Early evening at the rookery is the perfect time to catch sight of nesting wildlife. Two Great Blue Herons have settled into their spot among the vines and branches. With hurricane season behind us, it’s nice to enjoy a peaceful break after such a much-needed calm stretch of tropical weather last year.
