Full 2021 Lunar Eclipse sequence from 2:06 AM to moonset at 5:03 AM PT.

Overall I am fairly happy how this came out. I achieved a decent polar alignment for the star tracker. So the Canon 5d with a 100-400m was able to follow the moon extremely well for all 3 hours. Unfortunately, I was too brave and setup too close to the "fingers" rock formation. So I had to shift the tripod further away right as the eclipse started. That is why there is a break in the sequence.

Overall a success 🙂. Can’t wait to get home and start digging through the photos!

Spending the night out in the Frenchman Coulee at the “fingers”. Only 2 more hours to toltality.

I’m in the car warming up and resting right now while technology does all the work 🙂. The 400mm on the right is mounted to a tracker that is polar aligned. So it just “follows” the moon on its own. And both cameras are using an intervalometer so they take the images in their own.

Images of the Yakima Delta Fire in Richland, WA from this morning at 1am.

The fire started on 4/28 (Wed) in the wetlands in the delta. And yes this is very unusual to have a fire like this so early in the year, however we haven’t had decent precipitation since it last snowed in the middle of February. So it’s extremely dry out.

Last nights sunset (4/10)@ Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm was incredible! Every now and then you get lucky and the sun breaks through the clouds at just the right time 🙂.

Also a huge thank you to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm for running a safe operation. I was impressed by seeing all their staff always wearing masks and sanitizing. And I was equally impressed by the visitors. Everyone was wearing masks and only removed them briefly for photos. A great showing all the way around 😀.

One of the first signs of Spring in Eastern Washington and where I grew up in Michigan is the return of the Sandhill Cranes. The sound of them flying over brings so much joy. The cold dark days of winter are over and spring has begun. It was a beautiful evening to go out and watch them.

Last week I found time to use a star tracker to take longer exposures of Neowise. You can clearly see the blue ion tail with these longer exposures.

Hopefully I can find some time to get out this week 😊. The comet is fading fast 😕.
