Another year, another day of remembrance. Was honored to shoot the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Memorial wreath laying ceremony to honor officers we’ve lost. Each name on this wall represents a life dedicated to serving and protecting, a life taken too soon, and a life that now inspires future generations. This year was extra special for me because I unexpectedly got to step in and give the opening prayer. To pray over these officers and families… there’s no photo op that compares. And as we enter into National Police Week, it’s up to all of us to keep them in prayer. Thank you to Jim Henderson as always for organizing this event and keeping it going every year.

Love shooting this stuff. 10 years ago so these K9s would be retired now. But back then? Taking a bite out of crime. Such a privilege to photograph them and earn their trust. (The key is to meet the K9s beforehand and ask their permission. They always say yes as long as I promise to get their good side 😉)

Love shooting the K9s when we train at the Alabama Fire College. Great opportunities for them to stretch their wings (or paws) and I get to capture them in a different environment from the woods, sometimes from a flanker’s perspective and sometimes from the victim’s.

Had the honor of photographing the Vestavia Hills Police Foundation annual luncheon today with guest speaker Congressman Gary Palmer. A ton of great moments to go through and edit this afternoon so stay tuned. You can be a part of their mission to support Vestavia Hills Police Department by going to vhpf.org and donate and/or volunteer.

2024 was supposed to be the last luncheon. But the lasting effects and encouragement can’t be denied so this year simply marks the beginning of a new chapter for the families of fallen officers. For years Jim and Heather Henderson have headed up this initiative with their team. So many amazing people helped make Christmas special for children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. We pray there won’t be any added to the list but if there are this group will be ready with love and support.

Someone is happy his mommy stayed home today. No appointmrnts. No errands. Just needed a day to be with my pups and nest. Normally that plan doesn’t work out and duty calls. But God has graciously given me the time I needed. And who doesn’t love some doggie toe beans. 💕

Enjoying the first day of hay baling season! If you’ve never done it, two things. Get a good pair of gloves and get after it. Great workout for your arms, both lifting and presses. Works your core and your quads — balancing on a moving trailer over uneven ground while trying to maneuver hay bales. Yeah, pretty much hits it all. And did I say shoulders? All in the fresh air. Not a bad way to spend a day.
