Traditionally there have been three main types of product placement; screen placement, script placement, and plot placement.

2. Script Placement

Script placement literally puts a product in the script, where a character in the film will mention the product by name. Example: Marty McFly orders a Pepsi in the Back to the Future Part II.

Traditionally there have been three main types of product placement; screen placement, script placement, and plot placement.

1. Screen Placement

Screen placement uses a product in the foreground or background of a shot. The product is not mentioned by name, but does garner some decent screen time.

Director Michael Bay is a master of using screen product placement in his films. He currently holds the record of featuring 55 different brands in Transformers: Age of Extinction, a film already based on a product itself. In this video, you will see 50 seconds of Bud Light products without the product being mentioned

As a photographer and new into film, I am always wanting to better my skills. I often have so many ideas and goals, I need to better practice to achieve them.

Not only do I want to create products for business, one of my goals is to make a family video where someone is so touched they cry with joy!

Hershey made a blockbuster deal for Reese’s Pieces to be the candy of choice for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial; the candy giant paid $1,000,000 in tie-ins and cross-promotional advertising. The script actually called for M&M’s, but parent company Mars, Inc passed on the deal.Within two weeks of the film’s release, Reese’s Pieces sales more than doubled

Rule of Thirds:

The principle of it is to break the image into thirds, both horizontally and vertically, leaving you with 9 frames. These frames serve as guidelines as to where you should place subjects of interest in your image, either at the intersections or along the lines.
In other words, the main subject (or a point of interest) in your image should be placed at the intersections between the frames. This is at the lower or upper right or left intersections. By placing the elements at these spots, you’re creating a more visually pleasing image that naturally helps guide the viewer’s eye.

Visualizing these lines might be challenging in the beginning but luckily you can use the grid view in most cameras’ Live View or Viewfinder – it’s also possible to use an overlaying grid while displaying an image you’ve captured. Look through your owner’s manual to see exactly how this is done in your camera.

Psycho Is the First U.S. Film to Feature a Toilet Flushing

At a time it was considered inappropriate to show a toilet being flushed on screen, Alfred Hitchcock saw an opportunity to add some extra shock to his already shocking film—presenting a scrap of paper, which proves an important clue, failing to flush in a toilet. In the book, the clue was an earring found in the bathroom, but Hitchcock changed it to a piece of paper actually in the toilet, partly to add an extra jolt for viewers.
