Chapman's in Battle Ground, WA is where I go for my garden plants. I use the plant instead of the seed, I get a faster start and I know that there is a better chance of the plant surviving. Chapman's opened up this last weekend and I could not wait to see what they would be offering. I know they will come out with more as the season gets closer but a wanted to share the ones they are offering now. [ 47 more words ]

So looking forward to trying my hand at whole new crop of veggies. I have tried green peppers, Walla Walla sweet onions, zucchini, pumpkins,tomatoes lots of spices and eggplant (so much eggplant). This year I am thinking, green beans, more onions for sure (you can simple cut them up or slice for onion rings, freeze and pull those out all winter long).cherry tomatoes and carrots, I am sure my list will expand as the season nears and as I get into the green houses and see what they have to offer. I have all the beds ready and I am just waiting to the last freeze, let the fun begin.

Price is always a consideration when hiring vendors for your wedding, you only have so much money, right! If you are interviewing a vendor and you really love this person and you love their work and all they have to offer. Don't be afraid to ask if they have an off season special or and weekday special. Sometimes you can get a Friday or a day when just before the big demand comes and get a much better price. [ 35 more words ]

It is a good idea to meet with potential vendors in person. That way you can get a feel for the relationship. Sometimes you are with these people for 8 to 10 hours and you don't want someone you instantly can't stand to be in the same room with you for that long of a time. My plants had finally reached their end. There were some real pretty interesting colors and flowers as the plants went to seed. I feel a bit lost without being able to view the growth every day. This is the last of the harvest, a half green pumpkin. This crazy pumpkin grew underneath the raised bed. It was difficult to get it out and I am not sure that I really wanted it to. We had many pumpkin starts and then they just died. This one continued to grow in spite of the fact there was no sun. [ 95 more words ]
