We had a 3 day stretch where storms either failed to launch or went up and looked super promising and then turned completely messy. Fast forward to yesterday in Eastern Kansas, it was getting late and we were pondering bailing to head west for today's setup because it looked like we were busting again, and then boom. Our storm exploded at sunset and immediately turned beautiful. The time-lapses will be electric! 5k miles since the 23rd, plus an oil change and new shoes on the rental.

P.S. if you're ever through Colby Kansas and craving some amazing tacos, you have to stop and try Los Jarochos Mexican Food. It was 🤌

We chased a monster tornado warned storm on Tuesday all the way down to Eagle Pass Texas. It produced before it crossed the border and then immediately went to 💩. Yesterday was up east of Amarillo with some slow moving structure that was just fun to shoot. Breakfast in Lubbock and a post chase meal at Torchy's Tacos in Amarillo. Lincoln needs a Torchy's in the worst way! I added a couple screen grabs from the 360 video from Sundays chase in SD and NE. We're getting the oil changed this morning before hitting it again this afternoon!

Two chase days into this year's chasecation and we've seen some amazing scenes so far and driven lots of miles to see them. From the Texas panhandle on Saturday to southeast South Dakota yesterday. On our way back south to see what tomorrow has in store.

Last Sunday as storms moved away. The bolts were big, branchy and frequent! 5/17/2026.

After Sunday's chase in central Nebraska, while driving back towards Lincoln, I found myself in the middle of an absolute barrage of amazing lightning. I was scrambling to find a clear vantage point with a view to the east and hoping to be able to situate things so that I could at least have a little cover under the hatch of the subi, because the rain was still coming down. I found an unobstructed view at least, and started shooting bolts when it became clear that we were going to get a sunset. The hope was for rainbow and that definitely came to be. There is a lot going on in this shot from the rainbow to the m**s and the bolt in between. The sky is just so alive! 5/17/2026 near Raymond Nebraska.
