As every year for the last 10 years, I open booking for the next calendar year the day after Labor Day.
Each year, some things change just a little. I'm finding my books are more frequently filled with senior sessions the last two years, so this year I am opening a PRE BOOKING special for SENIORS the day before all booking opens! I URGE you to please book these when booking opens! Around mid July every year, I get so many inquires for summer and fall senior sessions that I simply cannot take on. I don't love turning them away. This year I am opening up 3 spots each month for senior sessions, the day before I open booking for all other sessions. Who are these for? 2027 seniors, your prime time to book is January-May. 2028 seniors, your prime time to book is June-December.
What type of session can I book on Tuesday, September 8th?
ALL of them! Family, couples, engagement, senior, maternity, lifestyle, etc!
How much is it to book?
A $150 non refundable retainer is due upon booking. The balance is due 7 days prior to your session date. Prices are listed under the investment tab at www.AmandaRosePhoto.com
**Please be advised a storytelling session is a $300 retainer.
How do I choose my date?
I open booking for the month only. When booking, you will chose the month in which you want your session. I then reach out about one month prior to have you choose your date and location. I do this in hopes to work around everyone's schedules easier and avoid having to reschedule due to sports, classes, work, etc. I take on approximately 5 sessions a month.
All outdoor sessions are done approximately 1-1.5 hours prior to sunset. Please check sunset times for the month you'd like to book if you think it may interfere. Sometimes sessions start at 8pm, sometimes they start at 3pm....I'm at the mercy of the light. I also do early morning sessions...early as in 7am...if that is something you fancy! Lifestyle sessions are done late morning, early afternoon.
PLEASE BE ADVISED............
I do NOT photograph sessions on weekends! WEEKDAYS ONLY!! I also photograph weddings. If I am not, those are my days off to step away from the computer and camera. Please do not book and then say you can only do a weekend, I will not be able to accommodate. If you have kids in sports or extra curriculars, I urge you to book when they are not in their active season and can't possibly miss a practice/event. Please do not book a sold out month and then ask to move to another month. I have to work around Mother Nature. Please be advised sessions can possibly be postponed if Mother Nature has its own agenda....hello wildfire smoke, extreme heat, rain and derecho of 2026.
Here is my month by month breakdown:
January- Great for indoor sessions, love January beach sessions.
February- One of the colder months, but you can get a random 78 degree day. Just like January, good for indoor and winter beach sessions. February may see snow.
March- See February.
April- Green starts to pop through again, but there are no leaves on trees. My favorite time for urban sessions, downtown landscapes. This is a popular month for seniors about to graduate.
MAY- Please be advised May is the most intense month. Spring is springing mid way through. BUT if you have kids, please be advised you will have 13 awards ceremonies, 4 field trips, 23 dress up days, field day, spring concert and end of year banquets. I'm sure I am forgetting more. Just be aware that your availability smaller that month. Great time to start up family sessions!
June- Beach sessions are in full swing, sunset is late, sessions start later in the day. June light is soft and pretty.
July- I am only opening early booking for senior sessions, as I take the month off for reschedules/vacations if applicable.
August- I take the first part of August off and return the week school starts. If you want an August session, please be advised they usually start up again when school starts. August is one of my most popular for senior sessions.
September- Still doing beach sessions, probably one of my favorite months for beach sessions, it's usually still pretty hot. The sunset time starts getting earlier.
October- I still do beach sessions the first month or so, as it's still warm at times. Best time to book for fall colors is late October. I take fall break off to frolic.
November- My favorite month and every photographers favorite month. The November light, if it shines, is the dreamiest on those dried out grasses. Soft light. Sessions can start pretty early, as in sometimes you have to get kids early from school, so please be aware.
December- Can sometimes mimic November! Snow, not usually:(
