I am beyond excited and incredibly honored that we made the Top 10 in the Embark Challenge Dogscapes!

The challenge brief: A natural landscape must be prominently featured in this image, though man made elements can be included. The image can be shot with any focal length or even stitched from multiple images, but it must give a sense of place, while still featuring the pet as the main subject.

When I imagined this image, I wanted to tell a story.

So, we set out on an adventure to find the perfect location, inspired by the history of our hometown. Vale is known as the first stop in Oregon after leaving Ft. Boise on the Oregon Trail, and I wanted to capture the rugged beauty and pioneering spirit that defined the journey west.

This landscape carries the spirit of the pioneers who traveled through its rugged beauty in search of a better future. I wanted this image to reflect not only the beauty of the landscape, but the spirit of the place itself.

Oakley made the Top 10 in the second Embark Challenge!!

The challenge is Get Down. The challenge brief is to shoot from a very low angle to show the ground plane and the full body of the subject. Images shot with the camera touching or nearly touching the ground will meet this challenge best.

Judges' feedback: A fantastic moment of peak action captured at a low angle that draws you right in. Colour harmony and light work well together to create some drama.

Indy made the Top 10 in the first Embark Challenge!!

The challenge is Colouriffic. The challenge brief is to find an area of bold colour and photograph your subject in front of it, with special attention paid to colour harmony.

Judges' feedback: This is such a bright and joyful image. The eye contact and expression of this dog are really engaging. The attention to colour harmony is a nice additional touch.
