Summer in the Vail Valley is officially off to the races with the Go Pro Mountain Games. I was out there all weekend covering the event and naturally I had to meet all the dogs I could. These guys were off on the Rocky Dog Fun Run a fun 5K for people and their pups. I couldn’t get over the Golden Doodle in pink Crocs!

This page isn’t about me or my dog. Though I figured I’d talk about Archer, just for the sake of introductions.

He’s a 6 year old, Chocolate Lab and German Short Hair Pointer Mix. He’s a mellow, and polite boy. But he isn’t a big fan of crowds, so I don’t bring him out when meeting dogs for photos.

Archer and my journey with photography are the defining traits of this chapter of my life. I got both my best friend and first camera in late summer of 2016. He is the first subject I took a photo of, and he is always the first to experience whatever new thing I’m excited about.

I took these photos of Moose at the Vail Farmers Market months ago. So I imagine he has gotten quite a bit bigger in the mean time. I tried my best to get his attention but he only had eyes for his mom.

Oh Hey! I saw a moose with white socks at the dog park by my place!

He was right on the path chewing on bushes and seemingly unconcerned about the busy neighborhood around him. Of course, lots of people know that moose and dogs aren’t exactly friends. Moose will often attack dogs, mistaking them for wolves, and dogs obviously like to bark at stuff. Naturally this could have been a dangerous situation with unleashed dogs in the area, but fortunately everyone was giving him his space.
