Bestie & Mr. Bestie 🤍 I absolutely love you guys! I spoke about support systems yesterday and you guys have been such a huge part of that. From having me on thanksgiving, to late night McFlurrys and mid day walks, or sitting in silence. I could go on and on about the endless acts of service and quality time you’ve poured into me. Your friendship means so much to me. I’m so glad you are in my life. 🤍

Let’s talk about your support system. Have you identified them? Okay, you don’t want to go THAT deep. Do you have a support system within your field? In your career who is cheering you on? Motivating you? Inspiring you? Mentoring you? Just like in our personal lives having a support system in our careers is so important to our growth as artist and creators. Lean on these people!!!! I promise you reaching out has no down side. If the response isn’t “of course I’ll help support you” then you’ve narrowed it down to the people who will support you the most.

A support system doesn’t always mean someone “better” than you or “more successful” than you or “more followers.” Your support system can mean your clients, connections to other business owners that speak to your value, and even those who consistently show up in the comment section.

In my personal and professional life I’ve been working on showing gratitude and reciprocation to those who have INVESTED in me. Invested their time, wisdom, ENERGY. Show your gratitude, reciprocate their energy, and show up for them. Because our support system keeps us going, motivated, and strong.

Who is your support system? Tell them how much they mean to you, even if it’s just tagging them in this post. Because a little goes a long way and one tag can brighten someone’s day and show them how much you care and appreciate them 🤍

Don’t stop. No, seriously. Don’t stop chasing what you want. Drop the things and the people that are holding you down. Keep going for that goal post. Because this is your one shot at life and you are the only one that can do it, so do it. Let go of anyone else’s expectations of you. Let go of their opinions, their judgments, their poison. Let go of the things you are not passionate about. Let go of the people and the things that empty you and leave you unmotivated and are weighing you down. Use every moment of the day to grow your mindset, your spirit, and your skills. Don’t waste a second. You’ve spent too long putting your dreams on the back burner. So don’t stop. Don’t stop chasing it.

As some of you saw yesterday, I’ve made the difficult decision of closing down Golden Coast Studio. It hasn’t been an easy or quick decision but I know that this next chapter in my business will be filled with growth and fulfillment.

To be honest, the studio no longer brought me joy. My passion for photography started to dim and my focus shifted from creating art and connections to spreadsheets, managing rental times, building maintenance, non stop refurbishing, tough conversations about stolen or broken items, and overall the loss of my creative flow.

Running and owning a studio is so much harder than people think. And although I found the energy to do it, I was taking away from other areas of my life that provided me with more peace and happiness.

I put so much of my worth in having a studio and I’ve realized that I don’t need that validation to consider myself a professional. It’s hard comparing yourself to other business owners and creatives and not put yourself down. It’s hard to build self esteem intrinsically and not rely on the praise of others. What makes you successful isn’t what you have, the accolades in your resume, or money in the bank. Success is defined by you and the fulfillment you have within your choices and actions.

All of this to say, having a studio just wasn’t my calling. But it has brought me closer to my community and I’ll never take for granted the amazing opportunities it’s provided for me.

Stepping away from the studio is bittersweet, so to commemorate my last days, I’m offering mini sessions for the entire month of March. I’m walking away from this chapter with a bang and want to soak in every last opportunity to enjoy what I’ve really loved about it, the ability to capture you and your loved ones in a cozy, bright, and intimate environment.

Now that the cats out of the bag… congratulations to the future Mr & Mrs! 🥹🫶🏼 crafted the sweetest proposal to with an entire photoshoot! Heather had no idea this “styled shoot” was all a set up for Aaron to pop the question. We got her dressed up, nails done, makeup, and hair, all so she could have this moment captured forever 🤍🤍🤍 Talk about a sweet Christmas gift! 😭
