It’s been awhile… hi, guys!

I did a mother/daughter session tonight and it just really warmed my heart. I’ve missed being behind the lens more than I realized.

Is there anything sweeter (and more difficult, emotionally and physically) than that first week at home with your newborn? Nope!

Capturing those raw moments at home is so important. It’s not often people want their home photographed or think they’ll be photos worth sharing, but I think it ends up being the opposite. Where are we most comfortable? In our home. Where does our love grow the strongest? In our home. Where do we see our babies hit their milestones? In our home! The average days are the most beautiful.

I was so happy to capture some moments this weekend for a dear friend of mine I’ve known my entire life—she is the most beautiful new mama and I can’t wait to see her love and relationship grow.

Yesterday I had the honor of photographing my dear friend’s arrival of her baby girl. After a long wait in the waiting room (no worries, it just made me even more eager and excited to meet this precious girl!), I snuck into their room to see sweet Elliot and was able to capture Fallon and Kevin’s family meeting their granddaughter for the first time—truly something so special! I hope they cherish these photos forever and can relive the moment for years to come.

Early this morning I met the Stowers Family at Lake Merritt in Oakland for a quick family session.

The Stowers chose Lake Merritt since it holds a special meaning to them--they live on the lake and walk around it every day. Charissa, Robert and Nash were such troopers out in the cold fog at 8am! But I'll tell you, those cool, fogged-in mornings make for the most gorgeous diffused light that I love. Nash was so silly with his tongue out... this family just looked flawless at every turn.

Yesterday I met up with the Fucarile family out in the adorable little town of Crockett. We explored along the water and through the old cobblestone street that was all done-up in twinkling Christmas lights and wreaths and garlands. It was magical!

Brittany, Jeff and sweet Avery were a joy to work with and so easy-going. Photographing littles can always present a challenge and when I arrived at the session Brittany warned me that Avery hadn't taken a nap, but everything turned out perfectly! We worked with what we got--and what we got was organic happiness and family love.
