Hinckley’s water levels are really low right now, but even with the low water, the scene with those clouds was still beautiful.
The area where you see me walking would normally be underwater. Some people refer to Hinckley as a lake, but it is actually a reservoir.
With the lack of rain, combined with water being released for various reasons that are well above my pay grade, the low water levels can have an impact on an area that has also been promoted for tourism, boating, camping, and outdoor recreation.
The idea of having a reservoir surrounded by opportunities for tourism, boating, camping, and state park recreation is a great one. And it is, until Mother Nature doesn't cooperate and the rainfall doesn't keep up with the water being released.
It's just another reminder of how much we depend on something as simple, and yet unpredictable, as rain.
Even with the low water, though, there is still beauty to be found at Hinckley.
