🖤 A Personal Update from Spellbound Photography 🖤
This is something I have spent a lot of time thinking about, and honestly, it is a decision that makes me sad as a photographer—but one that I feel is necessary.
Moving forward, I will no longer be sharing photographs of children publicly on my business social media pages or website.
Photography is about preserving moments. Some of my favorite images I have ever taken are the ones filled with childhood—the tiny personalities, the silly faces, the innocence, and those moments that parents wish they could freeze forever. Sharing those images has always been a huge part of building my portfolio and showing others the work that I love so much.
But as technology continues to change, so does the world we are sharing these images in.
The rise of AI and the ability for people's photographs to be manipulated and misused in ways that were once unimaginable has made me take a step back and really think about the responsibility I have—not just as a photographer, but as a mother.
I cannot control everything that exists on the internet, and I cannot guarantee what other people may do with images once they are publicly available. But I can make the decision not to contribute to that risk.
Your children's safety, privacy, and innocence will always be more important to me than having a photo to post for marketing or portfolio purposes.
I will absolutely continue photographing children and families. Parents will still receive their galleries and their beautiful images exactly as before. This only means that I will no longer use children's photographs for public promotion on my business pages or website.
This decision comes from a place of love, concern, and a desire to protect the people who trust me with some of their most precious memories.
As both a photographer and a mom, I hope you understand why this is important to me.
