Ascending

While exploring the Grapevine Parks & Recreation Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park, I came across this incredible sculpture. A swirl of color and movement that feels like it’s lifting right off the ground. It’s called “Transition to Beauty”, and the story behind it is just as meaningful as the art itself.

The piece was approved by the Grapevine City Council back in 2017 and brought to life by local artist Linda Lewis-Roark. She designed, created, and installed this 22-foot sculpture made of hundreds of vibrant butterflies, all rising together in a spiral of motion and light. Linda has more than 16 years of sculpting experience and over a decade of bronze foundry work; she also owns and operates the Grapevine Foundry.

There’s something powerful about the symbolism here. Transition, rising, evolving. A reminder that beauty often comes from movement and change.
